Like everyone else, my succes with 4GLTE has been spotty. This morning though I was on the actual Sprint forums and found this from a poster "

I went to Sprint yesterday. According to them, there's an open ticket for the ATL market; the LTE is on, but not propagating to devices properly. The expected resolution time is today around 1 PM." So if that has any valiltidy we have some hope.

The Chicago market is in an active deployment area and none of the sites have been launched. You may be able to get a LTE signal here and there occasionally. But these are all just for testing at this point.

This will not be corrected as noted. There are two issues occurring. One, Sprint launched early long before they have comprehensive coverage over the market. There are so many sites live, they might as well allow customers to use what is open.

Two, Sprint's LTE devices are set for too high of threshold to connect and stay connected to LTE. The device will shunt users back to 3G if the 3G signal is strong, or if the LTE signal is too weak. Sprint needs to get with their device OEM's to lower these thresholds. But this would require an OTA.
