Okay. I was wondering that since this device is coming out near the end of Q2, upgrading the processor shouldn't(AFAIK) be too much of a hassle. It might not be quad-core, but (like what you linked above) beats current dual-core devices.

The evo name is simply too iconic to be left out and the name "One" just doesn't cut it for me. So if I was naming this device I would go with HTC Evo HD LTE, simple and way more recognizable than naming it anything else.

The dual core CPU in the Jet is locked in by this point. The reason for this is that the MSM8960 chipset contains both CPU and wireless modem. And Sprint has already started vetting the Jet -- both in the lab and in the field (Network Vision FIT areas).

Yeah, it is way too late to turn back now! We have a tendency to think things are fluid and can be changed up to a few weeks before launch. But really, hardware changes in the 90 to 120 day window prior to launch are all but impossible.

I would be fine with any of the names mentioned either in my comment or in the article except HTC One Evo. That one just doesn't sound right.

I don't believe that Qualcomm is set to launch any quad core chips this year since I haven't read any news nor has Qualcomm made any announcements at the big conventions like CES and MWC. I looked on wikipedia and I see a quad core S5 chip set for launch sometime for Q1 2013 but this date is obviously preliminary.

Totally agree. Moto hopfully will release something. Otherwise time to take my lapdock to Craigslist. Would even be happy with the MAXX coming over to sprint.

Course if the Note makes it over to Sprint, My MoPho and all it accessories will be on CL. LOL

More good news. Looks as though Sprint is going to have a nice slate of devices after the current drought comes to an end next month. April - Galaxy Nexus, June - EVO LTE, October - The next coming of the Jesus Phone, Looks like a spot for the GS3 in August.

sooooo many people tend to overlook the 28nm in the S4 vs the 40nm in the tegra3...its not all about the # of cores in the device anymore now that they are going lower in the process with 28nm and even lower int he future...

Only thing i HATE is the none removable memory!!! WTF. Thats the one thing Sprint should of made HTC bend over and put removable storage in the thing...Thats one thing that I can't overlook. extra Dropbox storage means nothing if you can't stream from it...

To me comparing the # of cores and the die size between the chips doesn't mean much and what I really think makes the difference between the chips is the ARM-Cortex-A15 processor. It goes to show how much the power, improvements and performance the ARM-Cortex-A15 processor has become.

I really wish tech enthusiasts would stop comparing the Tegra 3 vs S4 or the OMAP 5 since its not apples to apples. The Tegra 4 coming out later this year will be quad core, 28 nm die size and will be using the ARM-Cortex-A15 processor. Once the Tegra 4 comes out, then I would like to see a comparison between Tegra 4, S4, and OMAP 5.

Actually what I think you are eluding to is what I proposed in comparing the Tegra 4 vs S4 since by then both chips will be running on A15 processors and be 28 nm. Tegra 4 will be quad core and S4 is dual core. If what you are saying is true in that its all about the entire SOC package, then the S4 should be on par with or if not better than the Tegra 4. That will really show that the S4 architecture is really superb in that it doesn't need a quad core in the Tegra 4 to get the same performance in a dual core. I can bet that if they did a test of the S4 Krait vs an OMAP 4 chip with 45 nm, that the S4 chip will blow it out of the water as well. The OMAP 5 is the chip that should be in comparison and not the OMAP 4.

By comparing the Tegra 3 vs S4 there still puts doubt and other variables in whether the huge performance increase is from the lower die size, A15 processors, architecture. From what I have been reading, the S4 seems to have a significant increase in performance to the Tegra 3. What is not to say that Nvidia could come back with the Tegra 4 and blow these guys out of the water.

I am loving the results of the S4 and the progress these chips are making with performance. Lets just hope we can get some benchmarks for the OMAP 5 and Tegra 4.

no not really b/c comparing the S4 dualcore is not going to come close to the Tegra4 as the field will be level except for the #cores and then in turn the Tegra4 trumps Qualcomm no question....

The S4 is just the series and could be referred to multiple different SoC's. In this case the MSM8960 (dual-core) does outperform the Tegra3 for the most part BUT it does lose on the GPU side of things according to anandtech...Also you can't look at the A15 and such as that will never be the same across all brands b/c like I said earlier Qualcomm design's their own and while the S4 series of chips are close to Cortex-A15 its not 100% that...

Quad-core Tegra4 blowing out the dual core MSM8960 is a no brainer and obvious thing that will happen...

The point is that # cores is not what matters its the package as a dual-core 28nm, Cortex-A15(or close to it) should beat out a quad-core 40nm Cortec-A9(or close)...

Its merely a fair comparison b/c those are the 2 chipsets at the top of the market that are both widely being readied right now and also being used in the same device...Till we see the S4 Quad-core MSM model out & the Tegra4 then comparisons b/w companies themselves could be more on even field. Before I'm just talking about comparing Cores and architecture of the chips overall not the makers themselves...
