Looks like there is a delay on the EVO LTE pre-order shipments

by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Tuesday, May 15, 2012 - 11:12 AM MDT   I just received information from a very reliable internal Sprint source that there is a delay occurring with the shipments of the EVO LTE pre-orders. According to the source, the delay is being caused by HTC and may impact shipments going out as late as May 25th. This may be the cause of the EVO LTE pre-order statuses being changed yesterday for many customers to "back-ordered." What is not clear yet

LightSquared writes scathing letters to the FCC and NTIA sounding desperate yet accurate

by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Tuesday, January 17, 2012 - 4:09 PM MST   Embattled LTE wholesale upstart LightSquared has written a letter to Assistant Secretary Lawrence Strickling of the National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA) and filed with the FCC blasting how Phase 1 testing was conducted on destructive interference trials between their terrestrial LTE network and high precision GPS systems. In the letter, LightSquared starts in the fir

LightSquared given stays from Sprint and FCC

by Robert Herron Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Tuesday, January 31, 2012 - 10:13 PM MST   LightSquared has now been in the tech news headlines for two days in a row. Yesterday, it was announced that the FCC is opening up a public comment period for the LightSquared Terrestrial LTE network and today it was announced that Sprint extended LightSquared’s deadline by another 45 days. Both are seen as good news for the beleaguered would-be 4G LTE network wholesaler.   Dan Hesse has o

LG LS740: Could it be a midrange RF powerhouse?

by Josh McDaniel Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Friday, January 31, 2014   This year is shaping up to be an interesting one for Sprint handsets. In 2012, 15 LTE devices were released on the then brand new Sprint LTE 1900 network, while last year saw a 100 percent increase to 30 devices. And this year could be just as big of a year as last. So, what better way to start 2014 off right than with a tri-band LTE phone?   We present S4GRU's first FCC OET authorization article

LG G2 mini: A Day Late and a Dollar Short?

by Josh McDaniel Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Friday, June 13, 2014 - 10:59 AM MDT   Earlier this year, rumors began circulating that Sprint and LG were going to release the LG G2 mini, a smaller version of the G2. The model number of the phone was even listed as LGLS885. Earlier this week, LG received FCC OET approval for that very model number. But is this phone too late to market, as the release of the LG G3 is rumored to be early this summer? No, it couldn't come at a more p

Jack of all bands: iPhone 5 FCC OET review

by Ian Littman Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Friday, September 14, 2012 - 9:35 AM MDT   In the past, Apple’s iPhone wasn’t quite the ideal Sprint phone from a network perspective; it lacked 4G of any sort and didn’t include support for Sprint’s nascent SMR-800 1x CDMA network (in place of Nextel iDEN). The situation could be worse (for example, CricKet iPhones can’t get native service in many of the company’s newer, AWS-only markets), but as a flagship phone it was odd to see the iPhone la

Is this Samsung's Highly Anticipated Galaxy S-III (GT-i9300)?

Danny Bullard Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Thursday, March 22, 2012 - 2:45 PM MDT   I'm sure you've seen some of the latest leaks of the Galaxy S-III. Is the 7 inch tablet market heating up for a battle for supremacy between Apple and Android?

by Scott Johnson Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Thursday, March 15, 2012 - 12:51 PM MDT   The 7 inch form factor for the tablet PC was largely understated up until the Kindle Fire’s release last year. There were the expensive high end Android offerings from Samsung, Dell, Acer, Toshiba and HTC as well as the Blackberry Playbook. The inexpensive end was headlined by the Kindle Fire, Barnes and Noble Nook and Lenovo. Sales were underwhelming, until the Kindle Fire caught everyone’s attention and

Is 4G LTE Connectivity pointless when capped or throttled?

Danny Bullard Sprint 4G Rollout Updates Thursday, March 23, 2012 - 1:15 PM MDT   I'm sure you know Sprint offers unlimited data, but what about the other wireless carriers? Well that's a totally different story. Out of the Big 4 carriers in the United States, Sprint is the only carrier to offer "true unlimited data." Verizon killed off their unlimited data plan just last year, leaving their heavy data users in the dust. AT&T on the other hand killed off their unlimited data plan in J
