  1. Bought the Nexus 4 on launch day and I am on the $30 dollar unlimited plan from T-Mobile. Data speeds have been very good for me, much better than my Evo LTE. Especially when I'm out and about I consistently see better speeds than on my Evo. The problem with my Evo is that I either have 4g or I basically have nothing due to 3g speeds being so spotty. I'm sure that when Sprint finished Network vision in Chicago it will be much better, but I usually have to roam just to get data, I believe I roamed about 600mb last month. For me the Nexus 4 with T-Mobile has been excellent.
  2. Damn still waiting on my tracking number, still says shipping on the 15th, so one day late so far. Never got the backorder email.
  3. Got my wife the Nexus 7 tablet and I've been playing with it more than she has. Great tablet, I find it much more powerful than my iPad 2. The 4.2 update was great, love how you can swipe on the stock android keyboard. The Google Voice and Groove IP integration is awesome, love making wifi calls on it.
  4. I personally love the specs of the phone, great build quality, awesome screen, great cam. It just has horrible radios. 3g, 4g doesnt matter. My wifes iPhone 4s always gets better mobile speed tests than mine in the same location. The 4g thing is quite annoying as well. It takes so long to pick up sometimes that if you dont stay one in place for more than 10 minutes it will not connect to 4g. I wouldn't buy this phone again if I had a second chance. Hopefully I can get half of what it is worth when the next nexus device comes out and I won't buy an HTC ever again.
  5. Everything that does work is amazing, super fast and light. They are doing a fantastic job on developing and I'm sure they will get it working before htc gives us jelly bean.
  6. CM10 has an issue with the radio interface layer and will not connect to ehrpd for any sustainable amount of time. Lte works, but it is worse than a sense rom when it comes to connecting to it. I've been lurking around the irc channel and it seems like that's what they are concentrating on fixing. Even if they fix the bugs it's not going to connect to lte any faster until htc fixes the radios on our phones. I'm starting to believe that no threshold issue exists and the radio programming is horrible and doesn't know that lte is available.
  7. Is this threshold issue specific to sense roms? When I connect to 4g on a aosp rom it holds 4g much longer usually to around -125 db instead of -115 db in sense roms. Has anyone else watched their signal strengths to see when it tries to reconnect to 3G on sense roms?
  8. Finally getting lte in La Grange, 10 down 6 up at -103 db. Actually got it after I flashed a cm10 ROM to my evo, it wouldn't pick up on a sense ROM for some reason.
  9. Battery life is amazing, phone sleeps really well. Routinely get all day battery life unless in a fringe 3g area and my battery life drops like crazy.
  10. I know HTC is under lot of heat, but it hasn't seemed to change anything for them. Locked bootloaders, not releasing source to developers in a timely manner. We have the same chipset as the Galaxy S3 and it's LTE works fine. If it's a software issue it should have been fixed already. That article is almost 5 months old now, even if it was a hardware issue, that should have been figured out by now.
  11. I think Android power users are a lot worse than iPhone power users. Unless your jailbroken, whats the most bandwidth they will use up? Facetime? Netflix? Plus most people that have iPhones only really use it as a phone with a bigger screen. I doubt they would even notice the speed difference.
  12. Using the cloud for everything would be nice. Also being able to use navigation without it constant saying "data connection lost" in the middle of Chicago would be extremely exciting.
  13. im wondering if this whole LTE scanning issue is HTC trying too hard to have great battery life on this device. I remember when I got my OG EVO that the battery life was really bad, like 6 hours of normal usage bad. On this device HTC went overboard with multitasking to kill tasks to save battery life. Then when people started complaining they said the phone was working like it should. I wonder if they are programming the phone to favor 3g over LTE to save even more battery life?
  14. Just drove to an known LTE area in the western suburbs of Chicago, never had a problem picking up LTE on its own. I was watching the signal readings and it always popped up between -105 and -115 db. Is this consistant with other phones like the S3 and Nexus?
  15. Drove out to my parents house and picked up 4g on I-88 from I-355 to Rt 53 lost the signal but picked it up again by Naperville Rd. Was pretty consistant from there until my exit on Eola Rd. I hit a couple blips here and there afterward, but I'm extremely happy with the progress. Also on an EVO 4g LTE and never had a problem picking up signal. I was watching my signal strength on the about screen and whenever LTE popped up the signal was between -115 and 105db. On the new 2.13 OTA base it shows LTE signal strength properly in About>Network. Never had to cycle my phone to receive LTE like I did before.
