  1. I switched to Tmobile in SF and am enjoy blazing LTE throughout the Bay Area. Can't recall any noticeable dead spots throughout the Bay Area but I'm sure there are some. Peak download was in Potrero Hill when I clocked 80 Mbs!! So fast that I'm sure it's a glitch. I've also traveled to Gulfport MI for business and was clearly the fastest network between my Tmo iPhone and ATT iPad. The only time my Tmobile acted as deadweight was when I traveled to the Grand Canyon. My hotel was inside the park itself. It was not a total dead weight but I had to roam on some network that I was not familiar with (USA something). As a comparison, my ATT iPad was working inside the park, albeit very slow. Feel a little guilty as I am using over 30 gb per month in data.
  2. I realize this may be a stupid question but may I ask how you are using a TMO sim on a Sprint version of the G2? I have a Sprint iPhone 5 and would love to swap SIM cards. Think my iPhone is locked already? I know HSPA+ in SFO is much faster on TMO than any Sprint network right now so would swap my SIM in a heartbeat.
  3. A to the Men, Hallelujah! Please Sprint just stop talking and start walking the walk. 1.5 years and waiting in SF for usable data still...
  4. Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, I think Sprint's biggest weakness is its ability to execute. Whether it is Nextel, Wimax, etc. Merging these two companies together from a company that lacks execution skills spells for a big disaster. I would focus on growing from the ground up. Seems like they have a lot of spectrum and are heading in the right (albeit very slow) path with respect to upgrading their towers. The downside is you have another Nextel fiasco and make Verizon and ATT much stronger, with even less competition. I don't know the stats but most mergers of this size fail. Always easier said than done when actually executing. Plus, I like that little TMUS is shaking up the industry right now.
  5. As an admitted tech dummy I still don't know how the CDMA and gsm technologies will merge which kind of reminds me of ...um the nextel merger. Forgot how much they wasted in that merger...$35 billion!!! Sprint today is worth that much which means Nextel was a waste of money. Seems like history is repeating itself?? At least it took only 10 years for sprint to start utilizing the benefits of the old iden spectrum. I'm sure there is a path to get those technologies together but it's probably not that easy and another 4 years of pain at least. Always easier said than done. Just my thought.
  6. I think that is part of the problem. All I keep hearing is that Sprint will eventually get there for various reasons, and to wait, and wait. It's only fair to see some sort of improvement over a 15 month period, no? I don't think I gain anything by waiting unless they change the plans right before the buildout is complete? BTW, I love to root for them. I hope you all prove me wrong and I come back with my tail between my legs asking for Hesse's forgiveness. You all are definitely more patient than I. I own a bit of their stock btw so I have no reason to hate on them and acknowledge the value of their spectrum. Legere's comment was on Sprint during CES. He did comment on Verizon and ATT as well but that specific comment was on Sprint. I'll find the clip if I have time. Good news is the new iphone will likely not arrive until later this year when the buildout should be complete (from what I am hearing?). You guys can all laugh at me when this happens and say "I told you so" but would it be fair to say by December of 2014, there should be improvement from where they are today and I can be critical if not? Regardless, I agree that no one should care what I do (I'm a nobody). I was just voicing my opinion on this blog.
  7. Thanks for your comment. I hope you're right but do not see that happening anytime within the next 2 years. I have had Sprint for 15 months and have been told the same thing with no improvement in coverage (might be worse). I'm not a TM fan by any means but Legere said it best when he said Sprint users should have the right to leave and come back when the network becomes usable. Their superior ownership of spectrum proves that execution is more important at times. Of note, I was in Chicago a few weeks ago and was not impressed at all with the coverage. Bad sign for me because I think they are the most covered city in the US (I may be wrong). At times coverage was good but other times, it was bad (a lot). If this is what SF has to look for...
  8. San Francisco still has a way to go. I live in West Portal and barely get 3g signals there. Pretty much unusable for data in that area.
  9. I think a lot of T-mobiles pricing and other gimmicks are just...gimmicks. However, I am switching when the new iphone comes out because of the service reliability in San Francisco which is most important to me. They are actually more expensive than Sprint. I like the idea of subsidized phones with ETFs, but again Sprint service is no good in SF. I bet you my Sprint LTE is probably slower than TM EDGE as it stands. They still have a few months for me to change my mind (or at least when the iphone comes out) so perhaps they can change their act in time...however unlikely.
  10. From my point of view, there has been zero progress in SF. In fact, some areas may be a little worse than before but maybe my mind is just playing tricks on me.
  11. I received the infamous text about the network being "largely" completed in the next "few months". This exact text could have been sent out a few months ago without being factually incorrect. So it really means nothing to me but if they can just get me to stop roaming in parts of my house, I'll be pretty happy.
  12. That's one thing I think about when switching which is why I haven't switched so already. I would argue that although Sprint has service in all areas, at times it's as useful as having no service at all. I was on a phone call from San Fran to the airport and was disconnected 4 times on 280/101. Very frustrating...maybe I should go to the evil ATT.
  13. If I understand you correctly, I think you are saying that your reception is sooo bad that they must have something up their sleeve for the better? I'm not sure if I disagree with that statement but I find it comical (I think the same way) that it is so bad, that it must be because something really good is going to happen. I hope you're right. I'm a few weeks away from switching to TMO since they pay my ETF now. Still would not want to but I really have no choice.
  14. Sprint has some serious add and needs to learn how to successfully complete one task before loving onto the next. I hope this does not go through as I was planning to switch to tmo once my contract comes up. We all know how the Nextel merger went. This will be no different especially given the recent track record of successfully competing projects on time. Regulators please squash this.
  15. BTW, accordingly to Sprint's fearless leader, they expect LTE in SF to be up right after Christmas and before the end of the year. Based on what I experience, does not seem feasible? http://allthingsd.com/video/?video_id=650BA1E9-19C1-435F-A82C-87526355FC89 Edit - Sorry this video was 3 years old!!!!
