  1. My brother lives in Baltimore and he said they got hit by a rare thunderstorm called a "Derecho". I have never heard of it and the same for him. He was without power the last time I talked to him and said something like 100,000+ were without power. From this news report, the thunderstorm in some areas was traveling 80mph. With winds like that, I am sure it wrecked havoc on the cell towers in that region. Here is the news story, http://www.wtop.com/41/2925683/Science-behind-rare-derecho-storm-that-hit-Friday I wouldn't be surprised if NV was set back quite a bit with the amount of damage this storm caused.
  2. I really hope that someone in our legal system comes to their senses and stops this nonsense. It is already out of hand.
  3. I remember back in the day it was perfectly legal to reverse engineer something. Now if something copies something else in function regardless if the code isn't the same, ohh noes! we must sue!! What ever happened to competing on the quality of your product. I guess those are the bygone days. Some judge really needs to stop this stupid ridiculous crap.
  4. Looks like Apple is already trying to stop the Samsung Galaxy S3 and of course they waited till pre-orders went up. Isn't that nice. http://www.engadget....g-galaxy-s-iii/

    EVO LTE Root

Didn't see this posted. The phone is already rooted according to this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671577
  7. The antenna power output of this phone is what bothered me. Everything else is awesome about the phone but this. Posted by NateC:
  8. Near the end of the video, there is a subcontractor who points out that they can't even afford new equipment or even tires for his truck. These guys need to be paid more and given more time to do maintenance on those towers. That alone I think would solve a lot of safety issues. I agree with you, with the proper equipment and use there of, a lot of these accidents could be prevented.
  9. Dan Osman climbing 400+ ft. in under 5 minutes. The guy is dead but he didn't die from free solo climbs. He died from jumping off cliffs and having a dynamic rope arrest his fall. It only takes that one time that rock breaks away from you or that rope snaps and it is bye bye.
  10. Just watched the video and all I can do is shake my head. I have been rock climbing for a few years and when I saw those guys free climbing (we call it free solo), I was like you gotta be crazy to do that. No amount of money is worth compromising your safety because you can't spend something if you are dead. These type of accidents could be minimized immensely if people were properly trained, have proper climbing and safety equipment and the climbing equipment is replaced and inspected regularly. The pay that these subcontractors get is just ridiculously low and that needs to change. If for instance that one subcontractor near the end couldn't even replace his equipment on a regular basis, then something is very wrong. Anyway if one of those guys offered me that kind of pay and that kind of substandard equipment, they would get the middle finger. That and I don't climb anything unless there is redundancy in the system. Tragic that those guys died... @2fastkustoms Ridiculous the amount of free climbing those guys had to do to get up there. That and that 'biner was way to big to be clipped on one of those climbing studs. Even if it did catch your fall, it could easily slip off the stud it was attached to. It looks like to me there are serious flaws built into these towers for climbing and maintenance work.
  11. I feel bad for you guys that pre-ordered. This is total BS. There really needs to be some reform when it comes to these ridiculous patents. Back in the day, it use to be ok to reverse engineer something but now it is a bad word that can get you in trouble. Whatever happened to competing on just the quality of your product? I guess that is a forgone conclusion.
  12. Got my wife and me out of our contract by talking to Rententions. Only had to do it 1 time for both. I would love to get the Evo LTE pre-ordered but I gotta wait. Gonna sell back my Evo 3D to take less of a hit with the Evo LTE.
  13. FYI, found this thread that can supposedly mod the HTC One X camera to shoot at twice the bitrate, 20Mbps. Unfortunately it was pulled due to bugs until further notice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597632 Might be interesting if they get the bugs worked out.
  14. Depends on the bandwidth of the video that the camera shoots at. I would probably think the phone would shoot at 10Mbps for 1080p video. A cheap class 2 (minimum of 16Mbps write) card should be able to keep up with that. Might want to get a class 4 just to be safe though.
  15. For wireless, anything probably over 10Mbps is overkill. With a home connection though, faster speeds are actually a better fit. I like my 30Mbps line and I max it out often.
