  1. So for some reason I still have a Sprint line, I sent a complaint last year to marcelo@sprint.com and got a call back from executive relations. At that time they told me unfortunately there were no plans to upgrade any of the 3G-only towers in the Syracuse area. I was all set to cancel my line (and I still might), so I thought hey I'll check in with executive relations before I do. So this time around, they called me back and had a response from engineering that they have a project to upgrade the remaining 3G towers in the next 6-8 months, subject to weather related delays. So take that for what's it worth, the lady I spoke to knew absolutely nothing about technical stuff and was just repeating the email that was sent to her. But I guess this is a positive sign. I didn't even bother to ask about B26 LTE in this area, I know the IBEZ has slowed it down but I would have thought by now we'd see some movement. I'm pretty sure I've seen some 800mhz CDMA along the thruway, not sure how that is allowed but B26 LTE apparently isn't?
  2. The progress in the Syracuse area is painfully slow, if I didn't still have a SERO plan I would have jumped ship long ago. As it is I barely ever use more than 3gb a month and I never use the phone subsidy so the main thing keeping me is that the mvnos typically don't get roaming access and have limited data speeds. I suppose on a Verizon or AT&T mvno roaming is a bit of a non issue though. It's just a shame that Sprint does not seem to care about this market at all. There's just no excuse for me seeing so much 3g halfway through 2016.
  3. I have not seen band 26 in Syracuse, only 25 and 41 is popping up more and more. My phone will normally be on b25 but its so fragile. In my office it sits on b25 but when I put it in my pocket and walk out to my car I pull it back out and its on 3g. That's with something like 4 LTE towers active in the downtown area. For the most part these days my data connection works fine even if I'm on 3g so I can't complain too much but its obvious the progress is painfully slow. I assume a lot of areas aren't optimized because there are gaps in LTE still. There's one or two towers in the Liverpool area that aren't upgraded surrounded by a sea of towers that are. Those last holdouts are annoying because you drop down to 3g and if you have data active streaming music it won't go back to LTE for quite a while. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  4. Sounds about right. As far as I can tell progress has slowed to a crawl. LTE is pretty widespread around Syracuse but there's enough gaps that I drop down to 3g frequently. Apparently they're now down to the difficult sites and it would seem there's a pretty good amount of them around here. As frustrating as it is I also have a Verizon phone for work and believe it or not there are a handful of spots Sprint has better coverage. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  5. eHRPD has been cutting out intermittently north of Syracuse the last couple days. Also noticed I've been roaming in areas that normally have native coverage. This is in Cicero, Brewerton, and Central Square areas. Hopefully this means they're on the verge of enabling LTE on these towers that are already 3G complete. Strange to me that they'd leave the towers in a weird state over a holiday weekend but oh well, maybe this is a sign of progress. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  6. I saw 1x800 flicker on and off last night in Liverpool but couldn't stay connected. Hopefully they're on the verge of doing something, any progress would be encouraging. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  7. OK that does seem about right then I would agree that about 40% of the population is covered. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  8. I thought a market was launched when it reached 40% LTE acceptance, why would they launch Syracuse when we are still stuck at 22%? They don't even have all of downtown covered and there hasn't been much progress in over a month. The few acceptances recently have been in outlying areas. I know they're waiting on backhaul blah blah blah but the lack of progress is pretty frustrating. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  9. I think what a lot of people are failing to realize is that the Nexus 5 is an unlocked unbranded phone and Sprint has little to no say in the matter. We are immensely lucky that Sprint allows this phone on their network at all. It's unheard of for a CDMA carrier to allow unlocked devices on their network, at least in this country. Well maybe not entirely since some prepaid and smaller carriers may allow it but a major carrier has never officially supported anything like this. My point is, don't be so hard on Sprint as they have little to do with it. I see people threatening to complain to Dan and run to another carrier. That's the worst thing to do in my opinion. Just what we need is Sprint deciding it was too much hassle allowing an unbranded device on their network and we can say goodbye to the Nexus 6 or whatever comes next.
