LG G4 User Thread (Was: Rumor Thread)

I didn't see a thread for the LG G4 and I know nothing has been officially announced, but anyone have any rumors of specs? I heard they could either use the Snapdragon 810, or they have their own octa-core processor. I also heard it may be a little smaller than the G3 coming it at 5.3" with a QHD display.

I certainly hope they don't make the display smaller. The current size is PERFECT, IMHO. The G3 is a joy to hold and use, especially compared to my beastly iPhone 6+. The G3 is my daily driver because of this and I have fairly large hands.

I think either size screen would be nice to have. I know G3 has a small bezel around the screen, and I heard a possibility of a bezeless phone, so maybe even with a 5.3" it will still look and feel amazing? We can only speculate for now and maybe get some news next week at MWC.

I still use my iPhone 6+, but I DD my G3. I went back to my G3 for Daily Driver duty about 1.5 months ago. I just really prefer my G3 for DD, it is easier to use one-handed and I REALLY like Android 5.0.

Of course, there are things I prefer on the 6+ over the G3. Battery, camera in low-light...etc.

It won't be at MWC according to the LG exec who spoke to a S. Korean publication about the G4 coming soon...

Said they would take the time between now and May or so to fine-tune the phone instead of bringing it to MWC.

http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/mobile-phones/1402798/lg-g4-release-date-price-specs-rumours-not-coming-at-mwc

................................many people believed that LG would choose to launch its new flagship handset at MWC in Barcelona, but it turns out that was just a false hope.

Talking to the Korea Times, an LG executive said, "We rolled out the G3 in May last year so we do not plan to unveil the G4 at this year's Mobile World Congress and [will] spend more time perfecting the new phone.”

What's with the rumors that the 810 sucks on the GFlex 2, it's laggy and battery life really bites because the chip overheats so much, stutters...etc?

Anyone seen the 810 in the wild, and know for sure the chip is not going to make a wise choice to move away from the current G3 with the ....what, 801?

5.5-6 is the perfect size....

AHHHHHHHH...actually I respectfully disagree on the 5.5-6 in screen size.  For their main flagship phone they should appeal to a wider audience and IMO the LG G4 should reduce their screen size back down to be between 5.1-5.3 in screen size just like the LG G2.  I have the LG G2 and I think its the perfect size at 5.2 inch.  Any bigger than that in screen size for this class is a bit too big.  LG does have the LG G Pro which I would think should appeal to your taste for a 5.5-6 in screen size.

i have the G3 the wife G2, and after using the G3 and then using hers on occasion, it feels tiny.... the G3 with the thin bezel feels nice, and I even have small hands, plus i have a bulkier case on it....Flag ship phones need to be slightly on the bigger size, in hopes of not needing a tablet as a add on....

What I would say to that is there are phones out there that meet your criteria of larger screen sizes in the Note 4, LG G Flex 2, Nexus 6, etc. Making the LG G4 about the same size as the LG G Pro 2/LG G Flex 2 is absolutely unnecessary and just cannibalizes sales of the other 2 phones.  While some people prefer the larger phones (5.5 in and up) there are still plenty of folks who still would like to see the 5.1-5.3 inch range.  The LG G Flex 2 has all the latest and greatest specs in the Snapdragon 810 chip and quad HD display.  If you are looking for 1 device that satisfies both functionalities then either of the 3 devices out there in the market are available.  It would further make my argument if the LG G Pro 2 was actually released in the US.

you are right IF the PRO 2 was released here.....as for the flex....ewwww hate the way it feels in my hand... it is for sure a niche type phone....

sammys are sammys and quiet frankly the note 4 is over priced, i have had sammys from the original galaxy with the slide out, and I think they have gone the way of the i-phone and almost make it so you have to use their crap...KNOX and all...

and I thought about the nexus 6 and then the price point jumped to high for my liking (as i am sure others)

so after using the G2 for a few mths and liking it, and now with the G3, improving on things....I am excited for the G4 and its 5.5-6 screen...

if you want a smaller version, wait for a G4 vigor  :rasp:  :rasp:  :rasp:  :rasp:

Here's a link to the supposed Sprint user agent profile for its version of the G4 (open in IE to see properly):

If this thing comes with a removable battery, I may be leaning its way when I choose to upgrade given the GS6 has done away with that.

Don't even bring the Vigor phone garbage into this conversation  :).  Its a slap to the face since that phone sucks.  The specs on the LG G3 Vigor are sooooo bad.

Yuck. Why are they trying to make it like the Flex? I hope that isn't the case.

I think it's a curved back like the Moto X and HTC One.  Not necessarily like the Flex.

Yes, the update on the article says its a more middle ground or 'subtle' curve comparatively to the Flex series.  I'm just not much of a fan of any curvature though on a phone.

Looking at some of those leaked pictures with the slight curve, it's definitely not a huge curve. From what it looks like and has been said, very subtle and if that is the case I'm okay with it, but hard to say until it comes out.

Some user reports now coming in about the G Flex 2 having heat issues.  I do hope they take until May or longer if it will have a different processor variant that avoids these heat issues.

A slight curve is a normal anatomical variation and generally does not cause any health issues.

    • Has anyone checked Verizon n77 in areas with more than 100MHZ active? This spectrum has been fully available since August of last year.  Of course they are not typically using SA.
    • I updated my other s21 ultra factory unlocked to the latest firmware... It behaves like the S24 Ultra n38 or n41 depending on 80 or 100MHz or their nr- arfcn.
    • I see everything correct. The two ARFCN's you mentioned earlier and they idenitify as n-41.  using 4.832b SCP. Only using one TM SIM.
    • I posted this in the Nebraska Premier thread last week, but just wanted to share in this thread the progress that T-Mobile has made in filling in the great coverage gap known as Nebraska. Between late last year and this year, they have added 28 new expansion sites filling in the coverage hole, plus 11 Sprint site conversions in eastern Nebraska and far western Iowa. Notably, in the last month n41 coverage was added on over a dozen expansion sites in western Nebraska that were added to the network last year. For comparison, here is the very first map that I created in October of 2022 after we noted expansion sites outside of Sprint conversion in Lincoln and Omaha. It doesn't show any western parts of the state, but just know there was nothing besides roaming coverage and a little B12 coverage leaking down from South Dakota to the west of Valentine, NE.
    • Sent a copy of my DB in an e-mail just now.  Couldn't leave the house today but can hopefully get a screenshot when I'm out on another cell site tomorrow.
