So this phone is effectively a Sprint Moto X? Will Sprint whitelist the IMEI and activate it?

So this phone is effectively a Sprint Moto X?

Yes, we reported on that three months ago:

http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-373-teaser-x-marks-the-spot-for-the-first-sprint-ccarrpp-fully-compliant-handset/

That's a question for Sprint. They may not since it's not in the Sprint database.

We hope to find out by purchasing a sample handset and pursuing various activation methods.  So, come fund the project and get multiple chances to win this tri band 2014 Moto X.

FYI $349 for 24 hrs. Read the part about the phone working only on Republic network.

I bought one last night. came out to $390.57.

Still gonna buy a pure Moto X since I got a cyber monday code.

Are you going to try activating it on Sprint or will use it on Republic?

I can try activating with Sprint, if no luck then will use on Republic, I really don't want to switch to Republic but badly want a 2014 Moto X.

Received my Moto X from Wireless Republic last night, must say that the New Moto X has a beautiful design, I'm impressed with the build quality and feel. Will start playing with it today when I have time.

Just an update on my previous comment. Activated my RW Moto X and used it during the weekend in Vegas..... Impressed on the coverage inside casinos and on the strip. I was able to connecto 1x 800 with no problem and Band 41 reaches inside some casino floors. Amazing... The only downfall is the RW app tries to look for wifi all the time and no HD calling in between Sprint customers. I had my Moto X 2013 too and while my Moto X 2014 was parked in 4G the Moto X 2013 was in 3G, had to toggle airplane move in order to move to LTE.

Any word on Sprint activation?

Still need to work on it, since when turning the phone on, it will try to activate if it fails it will continue as a never ending loop, when it tried to turn it off it activated on RW :/ I gotta see if  I can enter the MEID on the sprint website and do a swap phone. I doubt it because the phone is already activated on RW/ Sprint so I believe I lost my chance. Unless the guys on the other thread report their methods/testing on how to activate with Sprint.

FWIW B26 works just fine on the Xv2, though that's probably several pages back in this thread. As does B41 (I have the 32GB RW model...red back, black front, red accents for those following along at home).

As for HD calling, I could've sworn that HD voice works over 1x when not using WiFi calling (I'm on the everything for-$40+tax plan for the moment), despite running through Bandwidth.com's blocks of numbers. I'll have to try it out again, comparing with my N5.

Also, Hangouts' POTS calling could learn a thing or two from Republic's WiFi calling (comparing the Nexus 5 with the Xv2). Though I guess the main difference there is that RW doesn't even try to do VoLTE (or a duct tape and bailing wire equivalent)...it just falls back to 1x when doing voice calls off of WiFi.

I was not able to do HD calling on 800 when I was visiting Vegas since 1X 800 is active up there. I tried calling from my Sprint to my RW Moto X and nothing and backwards and no luck.

I had so much fun with the S4GRU Prize Moto X that I bought myself a 32GB Pure Edition Moto X with the $140 off Valentine's Day special.  It was coming via FedEx from China...but it is stuck in customs!!!  YEEEARRGH!

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
