mikejeep
I know it's been previously mentioned that around 1:20am Eastern the site sometimes goes offline for a few minutes and an error message is displayed. Lately it's been happening far more frequently during the overnight hours. I couldn't get on the site for a few hours tonight, and I am still having problems with certain pages (such as "Content I Follow" and the equivalent screen in Tapatalk). The error message that has been displayed recently is this: "s4gru.com Driver Error There appears to be an error with the database. If you are seeing this page, it means there was a problem communicating with our database. Sometimes this error is temporary and will go away when you refresh the page. Sometimes the error will need to be fixed by an administrator before the site will become accessible again." I didn't see anyone else mentioning this, so I just wanted to make sure it was getting mentioned. -Mike

The Dave
I am getting the error right now whenever I try to click on any of the sub forums. I was able to get into this thread since it was listed on the front page as a new thread.
WiWavelength
The View New Content link in The Forums seems to be the biggest culprit. Most/all other links are working. AJ
S4GRU
The View New Content link in The Forums seems to be the biggest culprit. Most/all other links are working. AJ This has been fixed now. IP Board has asked me to limit the number of new notifications for members. Currently it is set to no limit. He suggested capping at 100. They said this is the cause of our problems. I just noticed that I have thousands of notifications saved.. 313 pages of them going back to March. I can't think of why anyone would need that archive, and I'm sure it's clogging up a database somewhere. I started deleting them page-by-page, but that was a bit tedious. -Mike

dstar2002
I didnt realize the site saved them like that. I just deleted all mine. Was only 10 pages worth, but since I never care to read them after the initial read, why not delete them?
The Dave
I had 33 pages. I never realized that they kept building up like that. Fortunately, it didn't take long to get rid of them. It'd be nice to just do a batch select/delete of all instead of what is on the current page.

S4GRU
I changed the maximum number of notifications this a morning. It should help things out tremendously on the server side. We are now limited to 50 for members, 100 for Sponsors, 200 for Premier Sponsors. I did not change them for staff. CAREND
I would think notifications would be less important than say messages, so the limit should not be a problem.

I think you're exempt as "Staff" -- my 311 pages are suddenly down to 4, which makes sense based on my new limit of 200. -Mike

CAREND
That's why I still have to go empty my notifications, lol. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk Since i'm not staff, do the notifications inform you of post reporting, i.e. spam, violation of user agreement, etc.? If not, why not limit staff to 1k? If not, why not limit staff to 1k? The small number of staff we have just does not put much burden on the servers. It's the multiplier of members that burdens it greatly.
