  1. LIMITED TIME PROMOTION!!! YOU COULD POSSIBLY WIN A NEW iPHONE 8 IF YOU DONATE TO SUPPORT S4GRU **OR COMPARABLY PRICED ANDROID DEVICE!** The Goal The goal is to have some fun and raise some money to support S4GRU. If we can raise enough money to cover the device by 8 PM Pacific Time on Friday, October 27th, then we will schedule the raffle. The contest winner can select the color from what's available. The winner can also select the carrier (not limited to Sprint). The Plan If we are able to raise at least as much as the device costs us plus incidental charges like taxes and shipping, we will add any additional proceeds to the S4GRU general fund. If we can't raise enough, we will provide opportunity to refund. And which model it ends up being depends on how much money we can raise. If we raise just $750, it will be the iPhone 8 64GB ($699 value). For each additional $500 we collect beyond $750, we will give another $100 in toward upgrading to the iPhone 8+, iPhone X or memory/apple care upgrades. The winner can select any variant or upgrades, but they will need to pay any cost difference, from the prize value. Increases in prize vales will be announced in this thread. THE WINNER CAN SELECT AN ANDROID DEVICE IN LIEU OF AN iPHONE, IF THEY CHOOSE. Like a NOTE 8, Pixel 2, LG V30, Essential Phone, etc. Equal of lesser value to the winning iPhone prize. The Raffle Each donation to the iPHONE 8 PROMO will receive a range of numbers, equating to one number for every dollar you donate. The minimum donation to the cause is $10. If you donate $10, you get a range of 10 numbers. If you donate $100, you get a range of 100 numbers. The more you donate, the greater your chances of winning. There is no limit to the amount you can donate...in amount or frequency. But it needs to be at least $10 per donation to the iPHONE 8 PROMO. You will receive a Private Message (or email if you are not a S4GRU member) from S4GRU giving you your numbers after your donation. Most likely within 8-12 hours, but could take a day or two. We will stop accepting donations at 8PM Pacific on Friday, October 27th. Any donations received after that time will not be counted toward this promotion. Date and time of the drawing will be announced after the close of donations acceptance. We will select a number at random using my random number generator app in my Pixel XL. You do not need to be present in the live chat to win. All money donated to the raffle will be credited to your S4GRU accumulation total and will count toward future upgrades. If you are not currently a S4GRU Sponsor, you will be given Sponsor status for six months with the minimum $10 raffle donation. To Enter Go to the S4GRU PayPal Donation section by clicking on this hyperlink or by by clicking the donate button in the upper right hand corner of most S4GRU pages. Enter an amount you want to donate for this promotion, minimum $10. In the notes section, tell us your screen name and type iPHONE 8 PROMO. If you forget to do that in the PayPal donation, then send me a Message. You will get a message response giving you your raffle numbers by 11 PM Pacific on 10/27/2017. If you don't get them, message me. Rules S4GRU Membership is not required to enter. S4GRU Staff Members and their families are ineligible to win. Dollars spent on the promotion will count toward future member upgrades. There is no cash value of the prize. S4GRU will pay the shipping costs to send the prize to the winner. The winner will be offered options as to network selections, device options and colors based on availability within the winning prize amount. S4GRU cannot guarantee availability of any products, types, varieties or colors. Although many devices can be used on several networks, S4GRU cannot guarantee operability on any network. A SIM card purchase for the winner's preferred network may be required and is not paid by S4GRU. This contest is void where prohibited. Pre-scheduled automatic recurring payments to S4GRU during the contest period will not be eligible for entry in the contest. Should the winner desire a phone other than the iPhone product offered at contest conclusion, they can request an Android device of equal or lesser value. If a device more expensive than the iPhone offered is desired, the winner will need to pay the difference before the product will be ordered. If winner selects a less expensive phone than the prize offered, S4GRU will retain those funds as a donation. The contest may be subject to amendment, extension or cancellation as necessary. S4GRU reserves the right to provide a gift card or PayPal payment of the value of the prize for convenience or difficulty in sourcing the prize occurs. Photo Courtesy of Phone Arena
  2. iPhone 7/7 Plus Rumor Thread

As the rumors are heating up about Apple's next Flagship, it's time for a rumor thread. Post everything relevant about the iPhone 7 in this topic.
  3. iPhone 5 User Thread

So, we all know about the lovely iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus User thread, and there are many different device focused threads across S4GRU, but there are none for us older iPhone users. So, why should they get to have all the fun? This thread is dedicated to anything and everything about our beautiful (Spark-less) iPhone 5's and 5S's. Discuss anything like jailbreaks, hardware problems, how much you love your device, how great it is to have at least one LTE band compared to the folks who still have 4's and 4S's, ask questions and maybe you can get some answers, etc. etc. Discuss! -Anthony
  4. See: https://www.sprint.com/landings/iphone-ipad-bundle/ Sprint just announced a new offer that bundles together the iPhone and iPad and waives the monthly cost of a 16GB iPad mini 3 when both are leased through the iPhone/iPad for Life program and a 2GB data plan is purchased for the tablet. So: A 16GB iPhone 6 on Sprint’s $50 Simply Unlimited plan and a 16GB iPad mini 3 with a $30 2GB data plan will run $100 per month after the iPad’s monthly lease rate is erased in the form of a $17 monthly service credit. The bundle deal is fully customizable with the iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air 2, as well as 64GB and 128GB models of all four Apple devices, available at an incrementally higher cost.
  5. iPhone 6 omnibus thread

Above: a mockup of an iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 (4.7"), iPhone 6 (5.5"), and Current iPad Mini All aboard the leaked parts rumor train! Here's a thread to post what you find/what's leaked, etc. As more details come forward closer to launch, I'll edit/update this post with the relevant information and link it to replies to this topic. I think it would be a lot easier to contain everything relating to the new iPhone 6 ("iPhone Air"?) in one central location. iPhone 6 Omnibus Thread Topics iPhone 6 Sapphire Crystal Display TSMC is shipping A series processors to apple using their 20nm process Nerds rejoice! 8. With the FCC and Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon have agreed to this new unlocking policy. How does this effect sprint phones such as the IPhone. I have heard that Sprint can unlock your phone but you can not take it to other carriers such as Verizon and the IPhone can only be used overseas. (Correct me if I am wrong). I am glad that this has finally happened. But when it comes to Sprint how would this work?
  9. There are lots of reviews out there about the 5s and its battery life, but not many specific to Sprint. For those that have already gotten one, any impressions on how the battery is holding up for you? Also, if you could mention if you spend most of your day on EVDO vs LTE vs WIFI, that would be helpful as well.

Just wondering what are your guy's thoughts on Apple's iOS 7 announcement this morning? I'm pretty excited
  16. Is there a jailbreak tweak that changes the app switcher's animation on the iPhone to be like that on an ipad mini? I was visiting a sprint store today and I saw the ipad mini on display, I used the app switcher once and fell in love with it
  17. Technobuffalo had 3 articles testing different phones on T-Mobiles LTE network. Here is a summary of the speed differences: iPhone - Download: 32.32Mbps Upload: 13.57Mbps Note II - Download: 57.99Mbps Upload: 20.16Mbps HTC ONE - Download: 27Mbps Upload: 11.52MBps Why is a big difference between the HTC ONE and the Note II.? I don't know how many test were run, and if these are averages, but it doesn't look good for HTC to be the slowest.
  18. Great Article by Andy Ihnatko, who is a noted author, columnist at The Chicago Sun Times and Macworld, apple guru, and apple fanboy!!!! http://www.techhive.com/article/2030042/why-i-switched-from-iphone-to-android.html
  19. Just read this article. Apparently Iphone 5S and 6 are coming out in 2013. What do we think? http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/02/08/rumor-apple-planning-iphone-5s-and-new-5-inch-iphone-6-for-2013

  22. I came across an interesting article at http://www.gottabemo...phone-5-models/. It talks about the CDMA version of the IPhone 5. But it turns out that the IPhone 5 may start a big change in the future of LTE roaming. With the GSM version of the IPhone, which can operate on AT&T`s LTE network, and if the proper roaming agreements are signed, it can roam on Canada`s 4G LTE networks, but not possible yet as an agreement has not been reached. This being said, it turns out that the CDMA IPhone 5 is more compatible with LTE networks around the country. As of now, LTE roaming on verizon if you have a sprint phone is not possible, since Verizon runs their LTE on the 700Mhz spectrum, and Sprint is currently running their LTE on the 1900Mhz spectrum. But with the IPhone 5 already supporting other countries` LTE networks, I think in my opinion that Sprint may consider this in the future, but the cost that it would be to roam on other carrier`s LTE would cost sprint a bundle of money that may make them decide otherwise. What do you guys think? Do you think Sprint will follow suite and allow roaming with other LTE networks?
  23. As of January 1st, I am eligible (finally) for my upgrade. I have read and researched exhaustively, and still am on the fence about which device to buy. I have had Samsung Android phones as my last two phones (the Moment, and then the Epic 4G Wimax, otherwise known as the Galaxy S1 on other carriers). On the plus side, I do love many aspects of Android, including the customization options and I've played with Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean phones and the improvements over Gingerbread (which my current phone will obviously be stuck with until hell freezes over) are impressive. Yet I've also played with the iPhone 4S quite a lot (my best friend has had one for some time now) and I love that it doesn't freeze up, hesitate, or have any error messages...and it feels good in the hand, hardware wise), and have owned an iPad for nearly 2 years...so I do like the idea of adding a device to the same ecosystem. Has anyone else upgraded to either of these devices recently, and if so, what are your impressions?
  24. "Consumer Reports gushed over the device (iPhone 5) and called it “the best iPhone yet.” Apparently the best iPhone yet still isn’t as good as top Android smartphones" If the HTC One S is a 77 at T-Mobile, then the EVO LTE should be tied with the LG phone at Sprint???!!! http://bgr.com/2013/...-rating-284502/
