  1. Any S4GRU members going to the Super Bowl or planning to be near the stadium? Could you let us know how Sprint's coverage is? ---------- About the DAS: http://www.rcrwireless.com/20150129/network-infrastructure/digging-das-superbowl-tag4
  2. Given the fact that Virgin has access to Extended Coverage ever since it's Inner Circle plan still now with it's current one at least according to customer service. Shouldn't Virgin be using PRL 55070 like it was with Inner Circle or is 7080 correct? I feel like there's an issue that isn't being paid attention too. Does PRL 7080 have the necessary stuff to make the device roam on Sprints extended partners.
  3. When Virgin Mobile introduced their Inner Circle plan they added Extended coverage giving them the same coverage as Sprint Postpaid. And a few months ago when Virgin did away with its Inner Circle plan and its iPhone only to the current plan lineup and devices I figured they'd backtrack on the roaming and go back to Sprint only. While they may not have updated their coverage map it would seem they are not allowing roaming as my LG Tribute Dynasty which is compatible with US Cellular roaming is being restricted and blocked post activation. Before hands free activation began I was able to go into the devices network and roaming settings and switch on voice roaming, which worked, it immediately connected to US Cellular, then the hands free activation started which couldn't complete due to no data until I switched on wifi, but after the device rebooted, the voice roaming was turned off and greyed out so it couldn't be switched back on. I know this device is capable of roaming, it has band 12 and band 5 for LTE and the CDMA band necessary to roam onto US Cellulars CDMA network, which again it was able to due prior to activation. If Virgin Mobile is going to continue having roaming as an option then it should work otherwise they need to remove it from their coverage map. I've attempted to take the issue up with Virgin but they tell me that they'll help me with any other issue, except roaming. I believe it has something to do with the PRL since it is what determines the devices roaming. I found a old Virgin device from before Inner Circle started, in it was PRL 7080 the same one as it has now, back then Virgin was the home network on Sprint only, no data or voice roaming. I don't know where the issue is with this and I'm hoping after filing a complaint with the FCC which has been served that it is either corrected and fixed and roaming starts working, or Virgin removes it from their coverage map if they're not going to allow it. I've asked customer service if the coverage map and the roaming on it applies to current customers or if it was just Inner Circle and they say it does apply to the current plans. If so, and if I have a device that is compatible (LG Tribute Dynasty), why is it being restricted.
  4. Hey guys I was browsing one of my news applications and I found interesting article about Verizon Wireless in Maine I'm sharing the link. http://wcyy.com/verizon-is-dumping-an-entire-chunk-of-maine-from-their-wireless-network/ Tell me what you think.
  5. When will the North Carolina (Raleigh, Durham, Charlotte, & Wilmington) areas start with LTE Network Vision? When will we expect coverage in the area? Also, how good will this Advance 3G be when revised for better data speed coverage?
  6. Many of us hate the tiny coverage tool, so here are some HD images of Sprint's Spark coverage. Clearwire 10/29/15: Full Resolution (10786 x 5798) 5/18/15: Full Resolution (5350 x 2850) 11/1/14: Full Resolution (5350 x 2900) Sprint map last updated: 5/18/15
  7. Does Sprint have an LTE roaming deals with any carrier anywhere currently? If so, does it show up on their coverage map?
  8. Is there any word or rumors of Sprint (with this deployment) increasing their coverage, with maybe more rural coverage? (maybe in the next 5 yrs)
  9. OK, so I was bored on a Sunday afternoon and started lookin around the various places I visit when I have vacation time. One of these places is my home town in South East Texas. I remember way back when, circa 1997, Sprint came to town via UsUnwired. It was great if you were in Beaumont but anytime you went north to the lakes after Silsbee you were roaming. My uncle had a Nextel phone from about 1999-2007 and I remember he never would lose that coverage until Jasper. Today, I found that the highway north outta Beaumont had iDEN towers, while Sprint never built any antenna/towers/cells along that same route; even after the Merger in 2005, this area since then has remained as it was. So, fast forward to today. I've lurked and read, thought it through, and concluded the following. The iDEN towers in this area are not being "pruned" at this time do to no overlapping coverage. These iDEN towers will be decommissioned sometime between now and 2013 Since these towers do not co-locate any former UsUnwired or Sprint CDMA equipment, upon such decommissioning, there well be a resounding null of native Sprint coverage in this area. For the few area's where there are some overlaps, such as Silsbee and Lumberton, where iDEN equipment is on one tower and seperated by anywhere from 0.25 - 1.5 miles, Network Vision will only be implemented on the Sprint CDMA towers. For the areas that had Nextel iDEN service, they will not be receiving new CDMA Sprint service, even when 1xAdvanced is deployed in the EMSR band vacated by Nextel iDEN Would these conclusions be valid? Is there any hope for those areas where there is Nextel/iDEN but no Sprint/CDMA that they will not be left behind. I know this area I am referencing may be small, but what of the iDEN customers when decommission happens; as there would be no CDMA coverage, they would not be able to get Sprint DC, so does Sprint just say: "Sorry, you're SOL?" Here is a little map i spent 20-30min putting together from Sprint's website; I know its a little "cut-and-paste" like, but the information necessary is available to see.

  11. So as we all know Sprint offers the Airave devices to help in-home coverage issues. It requires a high-speed Internet connection and creates a miniature cell site inside your home (femtocell). Sprint has offered these for free or deeply discounted for quite a while to customers with little to no coverage in their home. The requirements for determining eligibility have changed according to what I've heard. There hasn't been an official communication to retail employees as we don't deal with Airaves directly, so do take it with a grain of salt, and remember it can change again at any time. This information comes from a conversation with a member on the Airave team that determines customer eligibility to assist our store in providing accurate information to our customers that we refer to their team for coverage issues. To be eligible for a FREE Airave, the account must have 4+ active lines. Otherwise, the account is eligible for purchasing the Airave at full retail price ($280), or with a 2-year contract commitment for a discounted price ($130). My assumption is that since Network Vision is ramping up to full speed and should be completed within the next year or so, the increase in coverage availability from the 800MHz deployment and enhanced capability of the new equipment in general is anticipated to remove the need for Airave devices for most customers.
  12. I have a question, outside of the data issue, Why is it that people refuse to be on sprint? I have seen people talk bad about Sprint more than T-Mobile.
  13. Alright so my parents and I decided to go to Branson this week. I have an Evo LTE and my prl is 25015 and sprints coverage map has roaming coverage showing on their map going from Conway, AR along Hwy 65 all the way up to Branson. Well for some odd reason my phone wasn't picking up any roaming. Now my moms iPhone 4S was roaming the whole way, no problem. And it was Roaming on VZW 3g. I know it was roaming on VZW because whenever I made a call and didnt put the area code it would something like welcome to VZW the call can not be completed as dialed. What im wondering is how come my phone was left in the dark? Also I can roam on Cricket or at least I think im roaming on Cricket here in LR. But my phone wont let me connect to VZW at all to roam. Even where it shows im supposed to be able to on sprints coverage maps. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Forgot to Mention the iPhone doesn't just roam on VZW it only does if it theres no sprint or cricket service. But my phone just searches and connects to cricket if I dont have native coverage.
  14. Has anyone noticed that the coverage map as updated 4/8 now shows a lot of the country, and especially the west coast as off network roaming? Anyone know the cause of this? Or when it may be back to normal?
  15. I'm going fishing in Canada in a week and wanted to know if there are coverage maps available? I'm going to be on an island that is about 90 miles north of International Falls in Eagle Lake (century lodge). The coordinates are 49.547155,-93.054543. When I talked with Sprint they said the don't have coverage maps of Canada, but I thought someone on this forum might have more information. THe cost is minimal ($2.99 per month), and I'm only going to be there for 5 days, but I don't know if I could really get any coverage. I have not been to this place before and have had issues in other remote places in Canada. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  16. I thought I would check the sprint network coverage map and to my surprise it shows "coverage" area for LTE. It says the coverage information was updated on 7/13/12. Does anyone have any idea how accurate this is? Is this the coverage after NV is completed? Reason i ask is because it seems like most of Houston is already covered. Obviously nowhere near all the tower upgrades complete, but have they replaced enough already to give the kind of coverage that is on the network map? Thanks, Trent
