  1. Supporting article: http://www.kansascity.com/2013/09/06/4461371/international-expansion-for-sprint.html If SoftBank/Sprint were to expand into Canada and Mexico, and offer Unlimited Roaming Data, with a an industry first Transnational voice+text+data Plan, wouldn't that be the most amazing thing ever? What would those specifics be? Isn't there still a CDMA1x network still in operation in Canada? Couldn't Sprint buy out that network? Rundown of Canadian Wireless Industry = Not Good - http://www.michaelgeist.ca/content/view/6803/125/ And in Mexico, a CDMA1x/EV-DO carrier is still active, with an iDEN network as well... The 2.5Ghz frequency is has been open for business in Mexico for quite some time... Will Sprint buy that too? It it available for telecom use in Canada? My post is not well thought out. I don't want to take the time to research compatible frequencies. So help me out. I have the idea, now as a community, help build out this transnational vision!
  2. I just got back from a trip to Canada with my Nexus 5. After reviewing my options I decided to go the local prepaid sim card route. I went with Petro-Canada which is offering a $5 micro sim with a minimum of a $15 top up to the account. I then used $10 of the account balance for an allocation of 100MB of data. Each additional MB after the 100 is only $0.10 too so there is no penalty for running over. The only gotcha I ran into, being new to gsm/umts, was the need to program the APN settings. Petro-Canada doesn't make it entirely clear either. Well at least it wasn't for me. They have settings on their website but they are listed under MMS settings. Anyway, once I got it working the Nexus performed well and I had plenty of data available for my short trip to the north. The plan did not include any LTE connections but I was able to connect to HSPA+, as indicated by signal check, so my speeds were very good. When I got back I swapped my Sprint sim back in and everything worked as expected. So if you find yourself headed north, check out Petro-Canada. It worked very well for me.

  4. I'm going fishing in Canada in a week and wanted to know if there are coverage maps available? I'm going to be on an island that is about 90 miles north of International Falls in Eagle Lake (century lodge). The coordinates are 49.547155,-93.054543. When I talked with Sprint they said the don't have coverage maps of Canada, but I thought someone on this forum might have more information. THe cost is minimal ($2.99 per month), and I'm only going to be there for 5 days, but I don't know if I could really get any coverage. I have not been to this place before and have had issues in other remote places in Canada. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  5. I will be in the Windsor area of Canada for a short time next week and I want to know if the EvoLTE will work there. Sprint's list of devices that will work doesn't list this phone. It may not have been updated in awhile. Anyone have any experience with roaming in Canada?
