When will the North Carolina (Raleigh, Durham, Charlotte, & Wilmington) areas start with LTE Network Vision? When will we expect coverage in the area? Also, how good will this Advance 3G be when revised for better data speed coverage?

just to understand NV i want to confirm this and plese correct me if i'm wrong. 1x will be upgraded to 1x800 as well as upgrades to 1xRTT? 3G will be ugraded in the PCS band as well as 800? and 3G and 1x will NOT be running 2.6Ghz? as far as LTE, it will run off 800Mhz, 1900Mhz and 2.6Ghz. just want to make sure i understand this. thanks S4GRU members

Will 1900 be reframed for LTE only? Or is 1x Advanced not worth it at such a high frequency?

It will be awhile before Verizon is willing to commit to that, due in part to LTE outages in late 2011. On the flip side is MetroPC, which has pushed VoLTE as hard as it could. Then there's Sprint, which will stick to voice over 1x for the foreseeable future, but routes Direct Connect over IP. Sprint's latest DC incarnation seems quite similar to one facet of RCS over LTE. -
I am really trying to grasp everything in all of these threads but do keep coming up to questions about all of the terminology. What would be the best place to decipher everything? I did some searching but could not really find anything summed up in one place. I have found various things scattered but it seems everything I think I understand something else comes up and gets me all mixed up again. It is hard to tell which terms are upgrades of same technology vs. a totally new technology. For instance I am trying to figure out PCS1900 vs CDMA in 800 band or 800SMR bands? I know the lower frequency typically gets through buildings better but where does the difference in PCS versus CDMA come in? Is CDMA800 the same thing as the SMR 850 but just a different frequency or is it totally different technology on different frequencies? -
Sprint has recently announced plans to allow Direct Connect Users to use CDMA Direct Connect over their 2G network. Sprint believes their CDMA 1x network has enough bandwidth to handle the calls. This triples the reach of Sprint's Direct Connect network. This creates a nationwide CDMA Direct Connect network. Now people using iDen can switch to a reliable service. Please be aware if you do use Direct Connect over the 1x network you may notice the sound quality is poor or have trouble connecting. Sprint has said that once you are connected you should have reliable voice connection.
