Hi guys I post here and there and haven't posted in a while anyways I was sitting at home and all of the sudden out of the blue 4g is on my phone, I thought I was crazy...speed tested and was not. The sad thing is it disappeared after 5 minutes and hasn't returned. They have been doing work on this tower in my rural community as I have mentioned in past posts. My question is do they perform like 5 minute tests and just don't turn it back on for a while cause I have it for a total of 5 minutes earlier today and its been gone since.

I've heard around these forums that LTE will not drain a phone's battery any more than 3g on newer phones. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 though and that seems not accurate in my case to the point where I almost dread LTE showing up because I'll be having to go on airplane mode within a couple hours. Even when I go to a place with strong Sprint LTE signal with high data rates (e.g.; 20 mbps), my phone will only last a few hours at most before I am in the yellow. If I am on 3g though with that kind of signal and general use, I can generally last a day without charging. Is the Samsung Galaxy S3 just not good at LTE battery life or is LTE simply a battery hog? I am hoping it is the former since I'm going to be upgrading soon.

They are constantly doing work on this tower I know its not the best photo but they just put these white panels on the tower I have checked and found that the tower is owned by STC Two LLC which is a subsidiary owner of sprint towers, my thing is, is that on the sprint website it's not marked for an LTE upgrade. I've seen lots of trucks with huge metal box like building things along with tons of people working in and out of there. Hello all, I have a question about my sprint airave. The closest tower to my house is approximately 4 miles away if I'm correct. So what I'm wondering is when this tower is eventually upgraded to 4G, will my phone be able to connect to it? Or will my airave being a stronger signal override the 4G signal? Side question: are 4G signals stronger or weaker than 3G signals necessarily? Thanks for any insight you guys can supply

My tower near 156th and industrial(omaha ne) just started giving a signal recently. For this basic 4g tower, how far can I expect to recieve a signal? Also, once this is upgraded to the 800mhz that i keep reading about, how much farther will the signal reach? -
I have a question, outside of the data issue, Why is it that people refuse to be on sprint? I have seen people talk bad about Sprint more than T-Mobile. -
Honest opinion, once sprint is near complete with the Network Vision build out do you guys think that sprint will still offer unlimited data? I know with lte comes increased usage and because of that do you think sprint may turn to data limits to keep the network from being hit to hard?

So seeing as how Sprint is aiming to have Network Vision mostly completed by the end of this year as well as the apparent inclusion of LTE upgrades to Network.sprint.com, do you think they are focusing on doing strictly NV upgrades or are there still band-aid fixes taking place? -
I was in the Sprint store on 119th and Roe, close to the sprint campus. I've been in many times before and only connected 3G. I look at their tablets and they only connected 3G. Well, yesterday I went in to see what can be done to upgrade my wife's photon to and iPhone 5 and surprise I was connecting 4G inside the store. I know the area has 4G, but I always have problems connecting LTE just east of the Sprint campus.

So, I live in central Alabama...I'm probably somewhere around half the distance between Birmingham, and Montgomery...two cities that I'm SURE will get 4G due to their size and population..but as for my area, I can't really say. I live on the south end of the county, but twice a year the north end of the county becomes the 2nd largest population-wise due to the Nascar track...(for those still wondering, I live near Talladega Superspeedway, but this is still a good 20 miles from me on the opposite end of the county)... I don't know if they'll light-up this county due to it's affiliation with Nascar or not, and if they do, then it probably STILL won't affect me because of my distance from the track (zip = 35150). With 4G being more than likely destined to come to Bham and Mont...I guess we'll have to deal with 3G Advanced here?? Question is, what exactly is the 3G advanced..and does this advanced 3G mean that eventually 4G will be present? I thought they said that every that was within a Sprint 3G area right now would be getting a 4G signal when they finish the roll-out/deployment...or am I wrong in that?

On sprints website there is information about tower upgrades like data speeds upgrades and data capacity upgrades. he tower in my area is going to have (or already has) a data speed upgrade and I would like to know what that is? I doubt it is 4g because I live in a rural area and from what I have read, sprint isn't going to upgrade to evdo rev b. Also, my phone is connected to evdo rev a:8 and my dads is rev a:6 and I would like to know what the difference is and what the numbers mean. I am curious because my data speeds have been horribly slow the last few days, as apposed to the good data speeds i can usually get, and i would like to know if the slow speeds could be because of the tower being upgraded. I am sorry for the long post but 3g is my only internet connection at my house and I would like to know what is going on. Thanks in advance!

I was on my way home from work yesterday when I spotted something: http://goo.gl/maps/xDEK (GPS coordinates aren't Quite right, as I did this on my way back) From what I can tell this is a Sprint tower slated for a NV upgrade this month in Sprint's Ambitious June plan in Chicago.

Hello, I've been following the network.sprint.com site and just in the past year in South Florida there have been over 700+ upgrades to towers in my area (Miami/Fort Lauderdale) with another like 400+ planned! I've been taking screen grabs and adding them up. I know we are on the second tier LTE launch list but could they be doing the upgrades now? I mean I have noticed the speed on my 3G shoot up from unbearable to quite fast in the past 6 months or so. Also the speed of 3G on my new EVO LTE is about double+ of that on my OG EVO! So are these just a lot of 3G upgrades, normal maintenance, Network Vision or new LTE cabinets? When I choose other cities from the drop-down list they have a quarter of the updates that the towers in my area are getting except for say New York, lol. I've tried 4G LTE on my new EVO LTE with no luck. I remember that before the 4G Wimax launch down here in some areas I could get Wimax on one or two towers in certain locations so I thought they might test like last time. Is sprint going to use a new "logo" 4G LTE indicator on phones like Verizon and AT&T or go with just 4G. In the picture of the Evo it is just 4G. Seems like if they want to keep customers informed about their technology they would differentiate them?

I snapped a few pictures of the 3 closest towers to my house, trying to identify the sprint equipment (and clear wimax). One of them is obvious because its a single head on top of a building by the airport, but the rest I'm clueless on. Can anyone help me identify what equipment belongs to who on these towers? I am currently deciding between the Galaxy Nexus and Evo 4G LTE. I am upgrading from the iPhone 4S to one of these phones. Which phone? Also who ever owns the Galaxy Nexus please list pros and cons of owning the Galaxy Nexus

Hello, I'm new to the forum, looking to make new cyber friends, and looking for answer about Sprint's service and updates on 3G, 4G, and Wimax. Been waiting patiently for Sprint to get it together, and fix all the issues they have been having.....I been quite the sport! I just hope they fix the data speeds all over the country, before they lose even more people over it! Why have unlimited data, when you can barely use it......smh.....Unlimited is very useless in my area, and it sucks! Thanks for your time!

Rumor has it that the EVO 3D will soon migrate from Sprint over to Sprint's pre-paid division, Virgin Mobile. This will be a pretty nice offering for a prepaid carrier, especially since its getting Android 4.0/ICS "soon." Additionally, If it brings unlimited 4G (WiMax) data along with it.. It would be a steal for those with solid 4G WiMax coverage. I think some people are going to have a great option available if this holds true. http://phandroid.com...s-htc-evo-v-4g/

Ergen: Dish Has 80% Chance of Wireless Success Says Would Consider Alternatives if FCC Fails To Issue Waiver Mike Farrell -- Multichannel News, 2/23/2012 2:10:26 PM Dish Network chairman Charlie Ergen said the satellite giant has an "80% chance" of successfully launching its own wireless broadband service, adding if it does not received the necessary regulatory approvals it would have to consider alternatives for its spectrum. Dish spent about $3 billion last year purchasing about 40 MHz of wireless spectrum from DBSD North Americaand TerreStar in the hopes of launching its own broadband service in the future, most likely with a partner. However, the company needs the Federal Communications Commission to grant it a waiver to offer the service. On a conference call with analysts to discuss fourth quarter results, Ergen said he met Wednesday with FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski and that the FCC could issue a decision as early as March 12. On the call Ergen said that Dish has more than an 80% chance of success in wireless broadband, adding that the hardest hurdle to clear is launching the service itself. "For the last four years we have been putting things in place to get into the wireless industry, and we think that is a transformative strategy for us," Ergen said. "As we get into that business, I would say we have an 80% chance of success. If so you go full bore and give your best effort. When we started Dish Network, we thought if we could get past the [satellite] launch, we would have an 80% chance of being successful. The hardest part of a new initiative is getting started." Ergen said he was confident that Dish would be able to receive the necessary waivers, but if not would have to rethink its strategy, including possibly selling the spectrum. "If by chance we were not granted a waiver or it was kicked down the road without a decision through rulemaking, then I think that we'd have to consider the risk, and at this point, I'd say we probably don't have an 80% chance of success," Ergen said. "We'd have to look at other alternatives with what to do with the business and the spectrum, which would be unfortunate. " He added that Dish would probably have to write down the spectrum assets if FCC approval did not come, adding that without the waivers "they probably wouldn't be worth the $3 billion or so we paid for them." Ergen pointed to President Obama's broadband initiatives to increase competition, innovation and availability of wireless high-speed Internet service. "We have a history of being very disruptive in the video business. I think we would be disruptive in the wireless business," Ergen said. "So that give s us some degree of confidence that we would meet the standard to grant the waiver. If so we're prepared to enter the business and go full force to make a business out of it.
