  1. Wow,, so it looks like Sprint is going to move all the home broadband to the "evil" dish and share the 2.5Ghz LTE with them and the sprint phones. Wonder how all that's going to work out. http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57615867-94/sprint-dish-to-test-rollout-of-new-wireless-broadband-service/
  2. Oh and Freedompop is by no means cheeper then Clear,,,, 10 gig for 19.00 then 0.007 per meg after that,,, with my average usage of about 200 gig per month,, remeber this is a home ISP,,, not for a phone,,,, that comes to about 1400.00 a month. 200,000 Megs * 0.007 = 1400.00 Fastest 8X Up to 8Mbps and 10 GB per month Best for heavier Internet usage: Gaming Video Streaming Photo Sharing Data Limit: 10 GB Additional Data: $0.007 per MB $18.99 /mo
  3. Both Freedompop and another that is based in Portland are still offering service to new customers If sprint is going to sell wholesale to others,,, why kill clearwire? dosent make sence to me. "FreedomPop's high speed wireless internet service runs on Clearwire's 4G WiMax network. The service will expand to include Sprint's 4G LTE network in 2013".

Millenicom ... was the name of the provider in Portland. They offer unlimited to a point,, then if you go over a soft cap too often you have to start paying for two accounts according to the web site..
  5. Hey!!! I finally made the 1% club,,, I'm one of the few that dosent want the shutdown!!
  6. Where we are there is a home brew cable service and a telephone switching board,,, so cable is out and so is DSL. Clear wire was my best "unlimited" choice. Everyone else caps the data. What to do,,,, what to do,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  7. Thats the big problem,,, I havent found a plan B yet,,, if there was one that didnt cost an arm and a leg,,, I wouldn't have been on clearwire!,,, But your right,, need to find something and quick!!!
  8. I understand all the excitement around the new phones and such,,, but lets not rush this shutdown too hard. There are several million of us out here using the clearwire system for our home ISP's,,, Especially the rual areas where cable and such is not in place. So "the sooner the better" is not for everyone by a long shot. Phones are not the only thing that runs on the wireless networks. Now,,, what the heck am I going to do now!!!!
  9. I wonder if that's a main reason they changed the price plans. It used to be a contract and lease the modem. Now it's 50.00 for the modem and pre-pay as you go. That way if and when they decide to shut it down,, there is no contracts to have to worry about keeping the system up for. Quick exit. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway. I'm one of the few in the nitch group that dosent have much other options for ISP,,, at least for now. And I loved the fact that when the family ran up to Grandma's,, who dosent have internet,, I just unplug the modem here,, plug in there,, and all the laptops are fired up and ready to go. I complain about the speed all the time,, but they did have some good points too.
  10. I hope for both soon!!! do you know how long it takes to get my monthy average of 250G down WiMax!!!!
  11. Has anyone heard about clearwire equipment? Do you think Sprint will just shut down the home internet part of Clearwire and convert everything to Sprint phones and hot spots?
  12. Has anyone heard anything about the SF bay area going live? I read it was also one of the first due out. Also, anyone heard anything about the new hardware required for the ClearWire modems for home internet use?
