  1. I do not know why I got this deal and you can not get it. My phones were older S-9's but were working good on 4G & VOLTE. The only thing I did was refuse to install a TM Sim many times. The one notification I got was kind of stupid as it said my phone was going to stop working. Well, it might of been correct if I held on for a long enough time. I returned a text to TM and told them I was not going to ever swap sims until they had a network in my area that was capable of beating the old Shentel network. If they could not do that, I would eventually move to another carrier. I will never know where my reply went or if it caused the great offer to appear on my account. Maybe that fact that my trade-ins were Samsung may have given me some extra points. I am not sure what phone you are trying to trade in. Chamb
  2. I do not know but I sure would like to find out. I am still on the sprint biller and was offered two s-22 phones to replace my two s9 phones. I took the deal. Had to pay taxes and shipping cost. Great deal. Almost Free. This all went down about a month ago. So far, it looks like it all went as advertised. The issue with me is I m on a old Sprint unlimited plan which has a $107 cost. It still shows as a Sprint plan, however about 6 months ago, the taxes were suddenly included. So they did touch the plan but it still seems to be a Sprint Plan. So things are still ok, however we are both over 55 so I am thinking about moving to the 55+ plan sometime. I am scared to touch anything right now just to save a few bucks. By accepting the two S-22 phones I suspect I am somehow possibly locked to the billing I am currently on. I probably are going to let things ride until TM automatically moves me to a TM Plan. Even AFTER they put me on a TM plan, it is questionable if I can go to a lower rate plan after receiving the gift of two s-22's.
  3. Yep, that might be it. Will be testing this. 5G is so weak here that it just screws up things. Probably going to turn it off here for awhile. The phone sometimes latches onto 5g, but then things stop working. TM needs to stomp on some bugs. 5G just is not ready yet in this area. Thanks for the code. My s9 was different in that area.
  4. Yes, at least for some things. I am not in a 5g area right now, not sure how it looks when 5G is involved. But there are other menus that I had on a s9. You could lock out one of the 3 Sprint bands for example. You could disable or enable certain bands from aggregation. The 0011 is good, but it is not everything we had on prior Samsung phones. By the way, Samsung band selector is not working for me on this phone. Anybody else have this?
  5. Have two new S-22's. Trying to get into menus to see aggregation, channel width, etc. Similar to the old service & data menus in older S-9's. Most of the info on the net is wrong or outdated. Anybody have a good list of secret codes that actually work on a s22? NOT the plus or Ultra versions.
  6. Same here. I still have an S9 with Sprint Sim in Shentel territory. The phone sticks to Shentel sites almost all the time but it will occasionally find its way onto a T-Mobile site. Shentel always was very very good and T-Mobile was very very bad in this area. T-Mobile is only upgrading sites where they are already located. No upgrades to Shentel sites yet in this area. If I lock out the 3 Sprint bands in the DATA menu of my phone and force it to scan for T-Mobile, the service is totally awful. Mostly only 600-700 from the few sites they are using. Congested too. I do see some aggregation and it does help, but they really really need to convert all the old Shentel sites. T-Mobile needs the site spacing that Shentel had to make the PCS,AWS, and Band 41 work. Shentel had it right and T-Mobile was skimping on everything. I am sitting on the Shentel service until it either goes away or get combined with T-Mobile service. I will go with T-Mobile only if & when they combine the networks properly. If not, I will move on. T-Mobile has already sent me new Sims several times and I just received a new e-mail telling me I have more coming. Maybe one will go in my phone eventually or they all will go in the trash.
  7. I saw a comment somewhere that went as follows. Any S-22 WILL be on the T-Mobile network. Will NOT work with a Sprint network Sim. It also mentioned that an UNLOCKED S-22 was not different than a T-Mobile S-22 as to needing to use a T-Mobile Sim. Can not find that statement right now, so I can not verify just who put this out.
  8. They have done some upgrades to some of the original T-Mobile sites in the area. I see no work on the old existing Shentel sites. I am still using a S-9 with a Sprint Sim. Works fine on the old Shentel network. If I should lose a connection to the old Shentel network, I could connect to the t-Mobile network. That is authorized and does work. HOWEVER - it rarely happens as the Shentel network is so good. I am sitting and waiting. T-Mobile's past history tells me not to jump onto their wagon until I have proof it is going to be much better than the past. Right now, T-Mobile is using an old horse on Medicare to pull their wagon that has a broken wheel. I hope for better things, but I am a little nervous about the prospects.
  9. Knowing that they have Carrier aggregation active with B-41 now, T-Mobile may have changed thresholds on what the level has to be for your phone to attempt to use Band 41. With aggregation, the range and usability of Band 41 increases.
  10. When Band 41 is weak and does not want to work well, it normally will be because the uplink is bad. But now, they are saying that they are going to aggregate band 41 and some other band, possibly band 71. When you now have band 41 active on your device, have you checked to see if you have aggregation of band 41 with some other band? If so, the other band will be doing the lifting on the uplink.
  11. TMobile claims they are going to cover rural areas with 5G, but will they? One thing may help with this. Rural areas often have very poor or non-existent home internet service. If TMobile does install 5G sites in those areas, they can supply home internet at decent speeds from those same sites. This gives them another customer that will use the spectrum and give TMobile another $50 monthly income. Right now, the modem/router that TMobile supplies for home internet is very poor. Has multiple hardware and software issues. If & when they get their act together with the modem/router, maybe this will all fall into place.
  12. TM management just mentioned that they want to aggregate 600 5G with 2500 5G so it becomes more usable at a further distance. if they do, the 600 upload will probably become totally swamped. Even the 600 download could become swamped. I really question if that is a smart thing to do. Might be better to aggregate band 2 or band 4 with 41. I agree with some aggregation but not using band 71 with 41. As far as WISP in WV, Shentel has their own spectrum. They are prohibited from offering cell service but they already have activated some 2.5 spectrum for home internet service and are ready to do more of it. As for the QCI tables, about 2 years ago, my phone started latching onto signals of -130 and holding on no matter what. It was totally not usable at that level. Shentel had done this either on purpose or accidentally. Anyway after some time, it stopped doing that. Shentel went back to normal QCI. I have seen mention of TM trying to use signals at a -130 level. Maybe better phones and base station equipment will allow it, but it did not work in the past.bring on MIMO on all bands.
  13. I am kind of tied down lately with a major medical issue in the family, so I can not travel around much. I do see some sites being upgraded but surely only a few in the major high density areas. I can not chase these sites all down, but 5g on 41 is being activated. I will provide only my ESTIMATES of what appear to have been done. I still am using my old Galaxy s9 with a Sprint Sim. I am around Chambersburg and they seem to have forgotten this area so far. They have switched me to a TM plan against my wishes, but it is no trouble as long as I can use the Sprint SIM. TM service in Chambersburg is not nearly as good as Shentel's old service. I really do not need 5G at all. Shentel's 4G service is great while TM is poor. TM customers can actually roam on Shentel's 4G, so they are ok. I will only switch to a TM sim if my S-9 dies or the TM service suddenly gets better than the Shentel network. I see so many people complaining about having lots of bars on TM 5G UC but having super slow speeds. I will use my old trusty S-9 on the ole reliable Shentel network as long as it is superior to the TM network. Here is what I think we have in Central PA. (My best estimates) Hagerstown, Md a couple of sites Waynesboro, Pa 1 site Carlisle, pa 1 site Mechanicsburg, 1 site Harrisburg Several sites Litiz, PA 1 or two sites Lancaster Several sites York, Several sites The upgraded sites are mostly in "Center City" and not in rural areas.
  14. Greencastle, Pa does too. Shentel area 3rd party store
  15. The phone's uplink is the big issue. When Sprint activated HPUE, I got very little benefit. It looked to me like the phone could only transmit more power on a single 20 wide band 41 channel. I had aggregated band 41 service in my area and had great downlink but terrible uplink. The uplink was still the issue. I hope T-Mobile and the vendors figure out something. The real solution if to have another lower band to use as the uplink. Trying to transmit band 41 on a wide aggregated channel is not going to work well if at all. Too much power needed and the battery will not take it. I am STILL using Sprint service, but actually have band 41 disabled so I can access band 25 and have a phone that works.
  16. I am already looking at the alternative providers. Right now,I am still ok. But reading all thee posts over the last month or two about screw-ups and roaming issues, it has made me start looking around. If & when T-Mobile causes me to have issues, I will already be ready to flee.
  17. If they destroy my great Shentel service without providing equal or better TM service, they will lose my account. I own my phones and they will transfer to the other big two very easily. TM service in my area is terrible while Shentel service is great.
  18. I can not speak for the entire Shentel footprint, but in the areas I am familiar with, you would be much better off staying with Sprint/Shentel. Nowhere in my travels over the Shentel area does T-Mobile have any advantage over the existing Shentel network. I am sticking to the current Shentel network until I can prove 100% that any T-Mobile network is better. T-Mobiles press releases and claims are worthless in this area just like they were for many years.
  19. I am with "TRIP" on this one. T-Mobile COULD have had good coverage in the Shentel area in the past. Shentel/Sprint was a competitor. T-Mobile was not even trying to compete. Service most places was horrible. Shentel almost always had twice the number of sites to cover an area while T-Mobile done it the cheap way. Shentel had a network that was even better then Sprints network elsewhere. T-Mobile was not even competition. Just very very poor. So, this is the reason I have no faith that T-Mobile will step up and do it right. The Shentel network needs to be the base to build on. Add T-Mobile spectrum to almost ALL of the Shentel sites. What I hate is all the Shentel employees knew what they were doing and could be proud of it. If T-Mobile trashes the Shentel network, all the employees will see many years of hard work disappear. I hope the buyout price that T-Mobile has to pay is very high. It is a great network and it should bring a premium price.
  20. If you have service that works well, you might want to think twice before you make any move. Many people that get moved to TM by request or involuntary have issues. Unless you are sure TM is better in your area, I would hesitate to move to TM.
  21. Welcome to T-Mobile Trip. I hope the ride is smooth. Sorry to say that REDDIT is full of people that are not satisfied as they have a very rough road to ride on. Of course, it is REDDIT and many users are not technically savvy or have any idea of what is happening.
  22. Yep, Shentel has established a very very good network. If T-Mobile does not accept that network as the backbone and move their equipment onto the Shentel sites, things are going to go downhill real fast. I have no faith that T-Mobile will do the right thing here. Shentel has the right spacing, T-Mobile has gone the cheap route and only has about 1/2 of the sites needed. Since T-Mobile has a history of being cheap in the Shentel area, I have little faith that they will ever do it right.
  23. Yep, the FIRST thing that should have been accomplished is making the two networks look like one. Looks like it may be happening now, but it took way too long. If it was possible to do it, then T-Mobile looks very bad in allowing the havoc to start and continue. They had a long time to figure out how to make the two networks interoperate when permission was granted to merge. Putting all the effort into bragging about how quickly they were going to make 5G nationwide before anybody else was a wasted effort. It was simple. Immediately do what was necessary to combine the 4g networks so everybody could access the best signal between the two. Was NOBODY planning on how to do that for a year or more? Yes, customers are leaving and it is easy to understand why. I do not need immediate 5G nationwide service and most people do not. I did not ever think that T-Mobile was going to pull off the merger and not cause the average person some pain. What worries me now is how long the havoc is going to continue.
