  1. I'm on Harvard Ave in Boston at my barbershop where inside I would get a weak Band 25 signal. I'm currently connected to a Band 41 Mini Macro. Ping of 29ms with speeds of 30 down and 13 up.

  2. And we know that there are more green areas than shown. Like in South Dakota. They already have permits and leases going, but were not reflected in the map. Hopefully it's an example of under promise, over deliver.

  3. I had just about given up on the original box (I opened one of two received) after I had taken it a few places where I knew it should connect for sure. It finally got stuck in a boot loop. So letting its battery die and I'll send it back. Tonight, Spectrum took a dump again so I said what the hell. Let's try the other one. I opened it and with no expectations of success it popped up a test. The first window was a 4. haha The second one was 24, third one and likely best was 36. I said I'll take it. It set up on that one. Before: DL: 0.93 UL: 0.60 After: DL: 12.81 UL: 0.48 While not the best I think this isn't too bad in my zip code/rural area. 27316. The upload speeds in the area are bad even if you're line of sight to tower on a nearby hill, so I hope there's something going on soon to help that out. At least I can use this as a hotspot on occasion now and hopefully it will only get better from here.

  4. Yeah... no. They've already announced 18/36. Regardless, this Mac/PC and Droid/iOS piss contest BS needs to stop. Let's talk about Sprint and stop with these useless mine is bigger than yours and can do this or that. All the current top line phones are capable. Pick what you want without putting down the other. Anyone able to point out the new coverage for Macro sites. The images on Imgur are not clear to me being slightly colorblind. I can't tell if my area would have anything new or added.

  5. Shattered the screen on my Google-purchased 6P on launch day. Paid to replace the screen. Started having severe battery issues in the spring and contacted Google. No problem at all, they sent me a refurb 6P, then sent mine in after I got the replacement. Still a great device

  8. S1000 is a LTE+WIFI only broadband femto cell. Airave 3 is a S1000 LTE+WIFI femto plus a CDMAFAP module so that it does CDMA 1x1900 + LTE 2500. Airave 3s and S1000s are / will be offered to those where MB does not work be it lack of signal or spectrum issues. Airave 3 for if you need CDMA voice enhancement in addition to LTE and S1000 where macro CDMA voice works well but LTE doesn't. (check your PM)

  11. 2.2M Magic Boxes? That's a serious production run. Perhaps we'll see models which transmit more than single carrier of Band 41 as a clean signal? 8K new Macro Tower Sites should expand the network quite nicely, but I'm surprised to see such an investment in Mini Macros (45K new sites) when they are currently limited to 2CA. I imagine the same limitation applies to Strandmounts and AirPoles (15K)? 30k Tower Upgrades: Given that Sprint has approximately 50,000 Sites currently, that's a substantial number that will upgraded. Here's what Marcelo said at the Conference: http://www.seekingalpha.com/article/4107108 Marcelo Claure Yes. I think the scenario where, I don't think we have done a great job of explaining. So I am going to try to do this. You have to look at the strength from Sprint, all the way down from 2013 to this year. And if you average that, you are going to realize, that Sprint was spending, potentially a larger amount as a percentage of service revenue than our competitors. You go back to 2013-2014, we are spending close to 20%, and now we are spending in the mid-teens. So if you average, because there are spending cycles in which you upgrade your network, you are going to spend more. So from that end, we feel very good at how we manage our CapEx. Secondly, is we have a different culture. When I came to Sprint, hey this is the CapEx budget, and then everybody in the network team believed that it was actually good to go spend that money at whatever expense, because next year was going to be gone. Today, we setup a budget, but we look at every single dollar that comes out, to make sure we are not overspending, that we are not buying the wrong inventory, that we are not overpaying as to build our network. So we have a very disciplined amount, in terms of how do we spend. Now going forward what are we going to do? I think we have by far, the most diverse toolkit. We are going to get back at expanding our coverage. We plan to add a few thousand macro sites in the next 18 months. We have launched a massive upgrade, in terms of our existing towers or existing macro-sites, in which I expect every one or -- very-very high 90s, that every single one of our site should have 800, 1.9 and 2.5. These are things that we hadn't done in the last three years. But the time has come now to expand our coverage, and basically to make sure that every single one of our towers have basically three sites. We have done it in specific markets and the results have been incredible. Whenever we pull our entire kit of macro, macro upgrades, or mini-macros, we basically are by far the best network. And now, that we have a business that has been stable, you are going to see higher levels of investment. In addition, we are going to continue the massive deployment that we have of mini-macros or small cells, that is going quite well. We have a network meeting every week. Every week, we are getting more and more permits. I am very happy with all the states signing the small cell bill, that basically every single week, we get more approvals on the previous week, which has been hard, because now I think most cities and counties have realized that actually having a smart connected city is good for them. And then, our latest innovation, which is the magic box, is working incredibly well. We are sold out and we already tried to deploy. There are no longer thousands. By the end of this year, we are going to have hundreds of thousands of small cell or mini-macro -- what we call the magic boxes, customer's homes. So when you look at a combination, magic boxes, mini-macros, site upgrades, new macro towers, or new macro site. I think you are going to see our network continues to get better. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Much more in there!!

  17. No, you are playing fast and loose (sidenote: Steve Dean, see the correct use of the word "loose") with the timeline. Sprint and 3GPP did not hatch HPUE out of thin air in December 2016. It was in the pipeline prior to then, a known commodity. Apple could have planned accordingly. LG and Samsung certainly did on handsets released months before the 2017 iPhone cohort. The most accurate thing you said is your final statement: "just Apple being Apple." The iPhone historically has been a generation behind in the latest RF technology. And until Apple settles its kerfuffle with Qualcomm or Intel gets its modem technology up to speed -- neither of which appears imminent -- iPhone will continue to be behind, even intentionally so. AJ

  19. yes. I loved it though... 2 seconds into the call after introduction, the Goldman people litearly asked "you promised us a response regarding merger news during our last call"... "so when will the merger be announced".... Marcelo's answer as "per our Lawyers, this is what I'm allowed to say: "No comment"" LOL. They hit him hard and didn't hold back... that is a good thing. the Quarterly Earnings calls are events to polish their apples in front of the investment community and investors... These technology calls and things like the Goldman Sachs calls are where the nitty-gritty comes out. Massive Mimo came up and was addressed... we already know about that... but it's real and it's really happening "now". I don't believe anyone should "Shut up" about Sprint though. There has been so many promises made by Sprint that just never came to reality or was started and transitioned into something else.... that I think many of us are just a little skeptical until we actually see results and as it should be! In the last month, I have never seen so much actual improvement in my area in the last 6 or 7 years as I have in the last 30- 60 days! Lets see, 800 mHz up and running now, multiple carriers added on the sprint sites... Magic Box's being deployed and delivered... small cells going up and being worked on.... hallelujah!

  20. Hopefully this will shut some people up for a bit. I know we're waiting to see execution of this but Sprint is definitely more competent and on a better footing now than ever before. It seems like we get more exciting info from these side engagements than we do during the quarterly reports.

  21. Hot off the Goldman Sachs Investor call with Marcelo Claure... Highlights at 35 mins into the call (11:05 Eastern) -Sprint will add 2000 Macro sites (no time frame given) - Will have EVERY cell site with 800, 1.9 and 2.5 (No time frame given) - Will deploy many thousands of mini macro and such in addition to the Macro sites. -Capex will be $5-7 billion this year and "At least that much next year or more".... Marcelo's thoughts were that now that Sprint is growth positive and cash positive (his words) Sprint can now invest heavily and expand it's footprint.

  26. Is there anyway to see what tower the magic box is connected to? I'm in a spot that is surrounded by towers, but they are not that close to me. The only place i could get LTE was on my upper floor, band 25 at best. I got my magic box a few days ago and it wouldn't connect the first couple of days. Then it finally latched onto a band 25 signal of about -117 on my upper floor, which did give me some LTE on the main floor and basement. Then I decided to move it out of the window and onto a shelf along an exterior wall, and bam, band 41, which I could never get on my phone. It's a weak band 41 at -122, but now I get almost 20 down and 2 up all over the house and yard (1/2 an acre). I'm curious as to which tower it's pulling the band 41 signal from.

  27. Excellent news! As of me waking up this afternoon, my Magic Box has officially initialized! It's connected to Band 41 with an RSRP of -110, and a CINR of 10.4. Where I used to get .83 Mbps down and .44 Mbps up on a -115 to -120 Band 26 signal, my house is now coated in a beautiful, clean Band 41 signal capable of at least 23.10 Mbps down and 1.83 Mbps up! Over a 2000% increase! Great! I'm guessing whatever issue the Charlotte market was having, it is possibly resolved! Everyone who was having issues in the Charlotte market, go and check your MB and see if it's working now. -Anthony EDIT: Also forgot to mention that it appears to be broadcasting on UARFCN 39874, diifferent than Mr. Nuke's 39758 that his is broadcasting.

  31. Possibly. But they may not have a signal in a portion of their house, or a basement. And if these are indeed due to an upcoming VoLTE play, Sprint may want these people to have them. But I don't disagree with your sentiments in general. Just wanted to add that caveat. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

  32. All of you that are getting lower upload and downloads from the MB than from the macros please send them back. They are not intended for you. You did not need them in the first place. Sprint should do a better job screening candidates for these MBs so that Sprint's coverage is increased and speeds are also increased.

  35. For anyone following my story... I pulled our camper to the campground today and brought the magic box along. As soon as I got camp set up, I plugged the MB in next to a wall that is east facing since that is the closest macro. Went back outside to finish setting all of our stuff up and about 20 minutes later, checked the MB. It was connected to the macro with B25 as the relay (where our phones always bounced between 3G and B26!) - at this point, my phone was still not connected to the MB. Left the campsite for about 2 hours to go home and get my family and our golf cart. Upon return, my phone latched to the MB before I got out of the truck. . Wife's phone still wouldn't connect. Logged onto our sprint account and removed "wifi calling for iCloud device' from my wife's phone (support dude today said that might have been an issue with mine??). Waited 10 minutes and did a ##UPDATE# on her phone and then after another 45 minutes or so, she says "wow.. I have full signal!" Not sure if it just took time or if the wifi calling on our lines had anything to do with it, but it seems to be working great for now! Previously would get speeds of 1-4Mbps down/ .5-1Mbps up on B26, and 3G was essentially useless for anything but text messaging. Now sitting in the camper with full B41 signal from the MB and getting speeds of 22-26Mbps down and 4-8Mbps up. Unreal. Crossing my fingers that this thing is through with its 'growing pains' and is now ready to keep on kicking butt!

  37. An update for anyone who cares. I made one minor complaint via twitter, and almost immediately had a DM from @sprintcare. Went back and forth with them for a bit with messages, which then turned into them wanting to start a 'SecureMessage' session. In that session they asked for the Serial Number and MAC ID. I provided it, and within about 60 minutes, I had a phone call and voicemail from the IBS team with a ticket number as well as them indicating they were researching and would call back within 4 hours. After 45 minutes, I got a call from a guy named John who went through a plethora of troubleshooting and reset procedures both from my end as well as their end. He was able to see if/when any phones were connected to the MB, what my relay strength was, etc. He was also able to remotely reset the MB. Anyway - spent a total of probably 90 minutes working with him and testing and retesting and rebooting and removing power multiple times. He even did some reprovisioning which seemed to cause my MB to ONLY grab B25 as the relay - nothing seemed to work. Magic Box was reporting no issues, but none of our phones would connect. It was getting late in the day and his shift was over, so he suggested leaving it overnight and he was to call me back this morning. Late last night, we had a power outage at home that lasted for about 3 hours. I woke up this morning to my phone still not connected to the MB, so I ran the MB setup again, and guess what - now it is working great. Entire house is blanketed in 4-5 bars of B41 now. And now we get this: http://imgur.com/a/UK9N2 So thats fun.

  40. Multiple reboots / resets needed. The relay is very finicky. I think my record is about 5 days before it dropped to 25. Also contact the MB support number too. The more people inquire about the issue, the more resources that are likely to be given to rectify this issue.
