  1. The iPhone X looks cool but I'm not a fan of the notch. I'm looking forward to the AR possibilities. Here's what Apple's website says about cellular bands for the Sprint model: FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66) TD-LTE (Bands 34, 38, 39, 40, 41) TD-SCDMA 1900 (F), 2000 (A) CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900, 2100 MHz) UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz) GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

  2. Id say wait for about another hour or so before rebooting it, if its still on the same screen, unplug it for about another hour (battery rated for an hour) you will notice it will probably still be on the booting screen, its because E-ink displays keep last image persistent (even if the actual battery is dead. which causes people to think its still powered on! haha) Then plug it back in, it should boot back up and the display should change.

  3. Well the storm has passed. My power has been out for about 24hrs. Sprint data has a lot been out the same amount of time. I can make and receive calls but iMessages and texts are severely delayed. My family and I are safe. No damage to our homes except a few shingles blew off the roof.

  5. We're an all iPhone household and all four of ours have had no issues connecting to our Magic Box. Two phones running iOS 11 beta and two phones on the most recent version of iOS 10. Glad I'm not having this issue like others are. -Anthony

  6. Is there anyway to see what tower the magic box is connected to? I'm in a spot that is surrounded by towers, but they are not that close to me. The only place i could get LTE was on my upper floor, band 25 at best. I got my magic box a few days ago and it wouldn't connect the first couple of days. Then it finally latched onto a band 25 signal of about -117 on my upper floor, which did give me some LTE on the main floor and basement. Then I decided to move it out of the window and onto a shelf along an exterior wall, and bam, band 41, which I could never get on my phone. It's a weak band 41 at -122, but now I get almost 20 down and 2 up all over the house and yard (1/2 an acre). I'm curious as to which tower it's pulling the band 41 signal from.

  7. I had just about given up on the original box (I opened one of two received) after I had taken it a few places where I knew it should connect for sure. It finally got stuck in a boot loop. So letting its battery die and I'll send it back. Tonight, Spectrum took a dump again so I said what the hell. Let's try the other one. I opened it and with no expectations of success it popped up a test. The first window was a 4. haha The second one was 24, third one and likely best was 36. I said I'll take it. It set up on that one. Before: DL: 0.93 UL: 0.60 After: DL: 12.81 UL: 0.48 While not the best I think this isn't too bad in my zip code/rural area. 27316. The upload speeds in the area are bad even if you're line of sight to tower on a nearby hill, so I hope there's something going on soon to help that out. At least I can use this as a hotspot on occasion now and hopefully it will only get better from here.

  9. I'm safe. Sprint holding up well. 4.5 million without power. The eye of the storm coming straight for Marion county with 100mph winds. I hope I have a home to go to when this is over.

  10. I miss that feature too. It’s probably the biggest change for me with the new update.

  11. IP Board is putting S4GRU in the queue to have the site upgraded to its newest version. We currently operate in the 3 series. We will be upgrading to the 4 series. We likely will not have much notice when this happens. If I am given a timeframe, I will post it. But we are currently in an upgrade queue. Once IP Board techs begin the actual migration and upgrade process, S4GRU will be temporarily offline. This will take several hours. When it goes back online, it will likely look very, very different. Not necessarily in a good way. The upgrade will remove most of the S4GRU custom formatting, if not all of it. Also, some of the functionality, like Tapatalk, may not work at all initially. Side banners, tabs, navigation...I mean nearly everything may be screwy, not working right, in a new location or completely missing. Once it's back online, I will spend most of the effort of time on usability and content access. Making sure all the critical parts of the site are functional. Then I will start working on formatting. Working on colors, logos, etc. The content will all be there. Don't need to worry about Wall posts, forum posts or messages being destroyed. But you may not be able to get to it the way you're used to. And it may look very generic initially. The new upgrades will allow more customization and keep us current with all security and spam features. Our old version was no longer supported. I apologize in advance for any inconveniences. I may solicit some help too, if required. As I am very busy at work right now. I wish we had more information on the impacts, but every site takes them differently. We will be surprised and adjust as required. Blessed are the flexible! Robert

  12. When I go to the source and read their Facebook posts, I can see how all of this could be a misunderstanding. Although it may very well be true that Verizon is pulling out of Washington County, Maine, I can also read all of the official correspondence only to refer to abusers being thrown off and the Machias Valley News confusing what it means. From reading details, Verizon confirmed to the local news that they are sending notices to 30k-40k customers nationwide. Not necessarily to 30k-40k customers in Washington County. Some VZW customers claim not to receive notices. The local company that built out the network says they know nothing about it and only commented on what the local news was reporting. This all could be a big misunderstanding. If it turns out Verizon is not actually shutting down the network there, then this makes this whole thing even more interesting. Robert

  13. This is interesting. The only two carriers in that area are USCC and Verizon. Maybe this foreshadows an upcoming roaming agreement between Verizon and USCC?
    1 point
  14. Well, neither of them cover that part of Maine, so it wouldn't make sense for them to have a reaction. Maine is an odd state. Verizon/AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile all strategically don't deploy service in parts of the state. T-Mobile says they will blanket the state with 600, but I'll believe it when I see it...

  15. For me, as long as I do not hit enter twice after each paragraph, it worked fine. If I hit enter twice, then it added a line in between paragraphs. My MS Word at work does the same thing. My MS Word at home does not. I never could find a setting in Word that would make them both consistent. I've just dealt with it. But I will go check for a setting to see if this something adjustable for us. Robert

  16. I'm signed in via mobile. I have hit enter and it added a space in between paragraphs for me. Let's see what it looks like after I submit the post.

  18. Because the wide angle lens has a fish-eye effect to it. I would not want all of my photos looking like that, and I know people like my mom wouldn't know to change to the other lens to get a normal looking photo.

  19. I see the spaces, I was able to remove them. Are you posting via mobile? Maybe that has something to do with it?

  20. It seems these are two separate issues though. The news link in Dan's post clearly says Verizon is cutting coverage in Maine.
    1 point
  21. Wow! I could see this happening if it were landline service Verizon was dumping, but wireless service? Is this what Verizon is going to do next where if they aren't making enough money in an area, they just decide to drop coverage, regardless of other issues, such as who may travel through the area, or what other carriers might say about this to tease and taunt Verizon over this? This is one issue I'd actually love to hear John Legere's reaction too, and Marcelo's as well. I'll go look at their Twitter accounts.

  23. I'm not sure if it's hardware or software or a combo of one impacting the other, but they need to support customers. Replacing a battery for $165 is a bunch of crap. We'll see what my experience is, but live and learn...

  24. SCP cannot tell you when CA is active, it can only tell you which carrier you are connected to for the primary channel. B41^3 just indicates you are connected to the third carrier.
    1 point
  25. B41^3 on SCP just means third carrier. 3xCA is likely live, but you won't be able to connect with the Note 5. SCP also cannot tell when CA is active, only which carrier you are connected to as the primary channel.
    1 point
  26. That doesn't mean CA, its just a known third carrier that you are connected to

  29. I don't understand why they don't make the "wide" angle lens the default and the "regular" lens the "zoom" lens. You get the same lenses just defaulted wide and will please the people looking for a "zoom" lens and a wide lens.

  30. That would be awesome, I also wonder where they will deploy it first, October is only weeks away.

  35. It never worked that way for me. In the previous site I HAD TO click the dot/star left of the topic link in order to go to the most recent post. And I still have to. If you used to be able to, but no longer can, that leads me to believe it is a member setting. If I discover how, I'll let you all know. Robert

  36. If you click the little dot or star to the left of the thread, it will take you to the first unread post. I do that on every forum I visit because different software has been inconsistent about what happens when you click the title itself. - Trip

  37. There is one particular problem I've noticed with the site upgrade, and I'm not sure if enabling this option needs to be done in user cp or admin cp, but the forum is missing its automatic placeholder feature. On the forum before the update, when I clicked on a thread, it would automatically take me to the last read post/first new unread post. Now its not doing that, at least not for me. I really miss that feature.

  38. I'm going to get one, but I was waiting for a display model to play with it first...went to a store last week and the clerk had no idea what an Essential phone was. Funny thing about that though, there was a picture of it on the store's wall - and I turned around and pointed to it. He said "Oh, yeah that hasn't come in yet"

  39. I've made navigation and color toning changes to help readability and help you all get around the site. Web site and mobile site. With the changes, I'm starting to dig it. Especially the mobile site. I'm actually liking it much better than Tapatalk. IP Board responded to my support request and it made no difference when I re-installed Tapatalk. I don't know what further to do at this point on that front. But to wait for Tapatalk's next update for IP Board 4.2. Hope you are finding the site more usable now. More to do. Going to get more coffee. Robert

  40. Half my family lives in Marion, Alachua, Putnam and Clay counties. My parents, several sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., etc. For those of you who don't know, I grew up there. Lived in Belleview and Hawthorne. Went to school at Lake Weir and Interlachen. Keep us posted how you're doing. We care and want to know you're OK. My prayers with you all! Robert

  42. I'm really struggling with Tapatalk. Spent several hours reading through boards. A lot of IP Board users complaining about Tapatalk support issues and working with the new software. Not sure we are going to get this part solved soon. Maybe we can tweak the new mobile site to work better and leave Tapatalk behind once and for all? I will be back at it tomorrow. Thanks for your patience. Robert

  43. No gas or generator? Finding gasoline the week after Harvey was like striking gold in most of Texas. I hope you have dry ice and yeti coolers in case power goes out. Hurricane Ike in 2008 caused power outages for over a week in my place. Generator helped us run the refrigerator and a few fans. Also kept cellphones charged.
