EVO 3D ICS and Sense 4.0 ROM port

As some of you are probably aware, newtoroot has got his hands on the Sprint ICS leak (EVO 4G LTE RUU) (although I think its mainly ported from the One S leak as well), and has already got an almost fully functional ROM for Evo 3D owners.

Outside of 3D and WiMax, only the camera and bluetooth seem to be the only issues right now. Newtoroot should be releasing it here soon.

This will give us Evo 3D owners a nice taste of ICS and Sense 4.0.... will tie me over til June 10th!

That is Tmartin's thread... newtoroot should be creating his own here soon.

Been waiting for Newtoroot to release his Rom for a while now. I'm currently running ZR3D on my E3D. ICS Roms are great but I'm in love with Sense 4.0.

Once Newtoroot gets the WiMax working on the Evo3D it's only a matter of time before someone gets the WiMax working on the Shift with ICS. That'll be a great day for me!

Nothings impossible but highly doubtful as I remember it took the guys a TON of time going through doing that on the 4G to AOSP Wimax....

With the sense stuff it always seems to take a actual build for that phone of that sense version with Wimax working to get it to work on said phone...

It is possible as someone was able to port the EVO 3D ROM to the Shift with WiMax intact. So now I just patiently wait. :D

This ROM is only going to get better. Chad Goodman is now working on tweaking his kernel for it. Newt said BT is fixable and I believe Chad can get the camera going with the kernel fixes. Should be a near complete ROM here soon!

I think for the most part this ROM should be what you are looking for (with the exception of 3D and 4G):

Thanks! Yeah I'd say for the most part that would be it, but I'm not sure I could get around without 4G at the moment.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
