Hi all,

 

Sorry to semi-resurrect a thread, but I figured it would be better than starting a new one. I'm curious about when we can expect to see higher speeds on band 41 uploads? I read that there was something involving CA or something similar for uploads as well that was in the pipeline, even if it's a long term thing. I'd appreciate any guidance,

It has been talking about. Just need devices that supports it. When the HTC A9 came out it was said that it supports it. It doesn't sound like they will inable it on that phone. Which makes no since.

It's not uncommon for chipset features to go unsupported in devices. Just because the modem or processor supports something doesn't mean the handset has the rest of the necessary hardware in place to implement the feature.

Like the Note 2 that supported CDMA BC10, but Sprint removed 1x800 from the PRL that the Note 2 received. To this day, I don't think Sprint has allowed 1x800 to the Note2, even though I remember them saying they were working on a fix via firmware update.

Correct. Though it worked fine for me if I sideloaded a regular PRL. I think it was a manufacturing issue on some.

I don't think you will see higher upload speeds, it's a ratio for download/upload with a finite spectrum resource.

Upload speeds on B41 are staying where they are at for the time being. Upload side carrier aggregation has been discussed and is in Sprint's roadmap, but there is no clear indication of how far out it is. I would suspect at least a year? Probably longer, but it's hard to say.

Iirc they could adjust the download upload ratio else the chips can add it along with another antenna transmit path, which would double it.

They could adjust the ratio, but if they do it will be to favor the download side, not the upload.

When the S8 comes out we will have to see if the Specs support it or not. That could tell us..

I got that but, does that mean B41 is on a vzw tower? Weird seeing that in a metro area. It's also a Samsung Market where GCI are usually 09B.

      Unable to confirm if it's really off but I noticed this morning that I'm no longer connecting to Band 41 on my home site. Switching my phone to LTE-only pretty much always put me on Band 41 since it was the least used band on T-Mobile's network. Now I'm only able to connect to Band 2/66. Not complaining because it means speeds are faster on LTE and maybe 150MHz n41 is around the corner.

      Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.

      Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
