lou99/maximus1987
Here's a question since you're an Apple developer. Is the iOS environment that closed off that you can't develop a non-jailbreak version of this? I'd love to get this running on my iPhone, but it is tied to Airwatch and I don't want IT to give me a call He could probably add a bunch of iPhone guids as "testers" but apple's probably not gonna allow that many tester accounts. Just in general, does Apple block access to the necessary info to build an app?
lou99/maximus1987
Just in general, does Apple block access to the necessary info to build an app?I'm not a developer. All I know is that apple doesn't have a public API for accessing certain cellular related info. In rootmetrics it doesn't even give a db value. burnout8488
Just in general, does Apple block access to the necessary info to build an app? I'm curious about this too. There were mumblings that iOS8 might have opened up the APIs to allow this type of app without a jailbreak. Has this been confirmed, or is the necessary info still only possible with a JB? EDIT: Gotcha!
nahum365
Here's a question since you're an Apple developer. Is the iOS environment that closed off that you can't develop a non-jailbreak version of this? I'd love to get this running on my iPhone, but it is tied to Airwatch and I don't want IT to give me a call The app is currently not dependent on a jailbreak and I could manually register a couple unjailbroken phones to install it on. But a non-jailbreak app would just be limited to showing the data in the app and in the Notification Center. I can't manipulate the lock screen or the status bar on a jailed device. Do we have anyone that knows how to build a custom carrier bundle, or knows how to modify the stock one to do different things? Since we're all jail breaking/re-jail breaking, I'd like to see if my band switching problem can be resolved with something custom built. Maybe if the thresholds can be changed to switch to band 26 sooner? Let me know; I'd be willing to pay a little bit for one. Sent from my iPhone 6+ This is interesting, I might look into that sometime. I'm curious about this too. There were mumblings that iOS8 might have opened up the APIs to allow this type of app without a jailbreak. Has this been confirmed, or is the necessary info still only possible with a JB? EDIT: Gotcha! The necessary info is available without a jailbreak, but it uses private APIs that have basically been reverse engineered. The app & widget do run without a jailbreak but I wouldn't be able to submit it to the App Store because of the private APIs. EDIT: I was planning to include a status update with this post but I forgot so here it is: Getting close to a first beta, just working on showing the current LTE band next to the "LTE" symbol in the status bar. Obviously there'll be more features in the future.

Xlegendxero
Well this is exciting. Just wish it could be put on the app store. I would love to test this app too but I don't like having to jailbreak my phone. its too time consuming to do and from the little bit of research i have done for the iOS 8 version, it seems like Windows machines are still the preferred computers to do this (I am currently on a Mac, the Win7 machine is in storage). Xlegendxero
2 minutes?! I remember jail breaking ios5 required reinstalling the iOS software after doing the jailbreak. ( shows how long it's been since I've owned an another iPhone.)

anthony.spina97
Is there a jailbreak for iOS 8.1.3?? No, but you can still downgrade to 8.1.2 which is a very simple process (took me all of 10 minutes). -Anthony

anthony.spina97
DFU restore? Or do I need to download the ipsw We are iPhone 7,2 right? You need the IPSW. I believe your iPhone 6 is 7,2. I could be mistaken. A quick Google search can probably confirm or bust that. And no, you don't have to do a DFU restore. Just plug into iTunes, Shift+Update, and select the IPSW and it should downgrade you without a hitch. Make sure to take a backup though in case something goes wrong. -Anthony

uecker87
Jailbreaking is very easy. Didn't expect that.. This was my first time and it literally is only a few clicks. Then I did my restore and everything is exactly as it was, but with 8.1.2 and jailbroken. My iPhone is now ready and waiting for this beta. Maybe I won't have to go back to Android once the SD 810 makes it's way into a few devices after all. Thanks for the work nahum365! I was thinking about starting a project like this, but I just don't have the time anymore.
