Something tells me that the recently announced ZTE Spro 2 at CES 2015 today will be coming to Sprint. The specs are really nice (well at least nicer than the current model).

Looks like it's going to be exclusive to AT&T

 

 

AT&T will exclusively offer the ZTE SPro2 on AT&T’s network — the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network and the network that has the nation’s strongest LTE signal. In the pics, where is the mobile hotspot device?  All I see is some sort of Apple TV/Roku thing.

Booo, After I posted that last night, I kept looking around and one article states AT&T being one of them and another says AT&T and T-Mobile. Another article says that it is only LTE with no cdma hinting that Verizon and Sprint are out of the deal. Which would be a slap to Sprint considering that they were the ones that had the first generation. I guess we'll soon find out who the other ones are.

LTE-only doesn't necessarily mean Sprint & Verizon won't get it. VZ in particular seems eager to release some LTE-only devices at some point soon.

 

Indeed, once NV 2.0 has made a bit more progress, I think it could make sense for Sprint to go even further and release a B41-only hotspot with special plans with a lower cost/GB, given the guarantee that the user will only be on the highest-capacity band.

True, it looks like they've had some for about a year now. I missed that since I usually don't pay much attention to news about tablets. I believe all their hotspots still support CDMA for now though.

Not necessarily a slap to Sprint. It might have sold poorly, so Sprint might have been the one that said "no thank you." In which case, ZTE would have tried to find a new carrier partner.

It looks nice, it's too bad it will be an AT&T exclusive. I've been pretty happy with my Livepro, I was looking forward to seeing a newer version of it available. I don't see it mentioned, but it seems like the power bank is missing from the original. I use that feature on my Livepro a lot, it would be a shame if they got rid of it.

It looks like it is HPSA+ 1900/2100 as well which is great I can use this with my unlimited 4G data plan on the T-Mobile network for only 79.99 monthly.

I am not sure where you are seeing that stat, but it is likely band 1 IMT 1900+2100 MHz, which is not available in US spectrum allocation.

Verizon has one hotspot without CDMA. Future hotspot devices may lack it too. A version of the Spro 2 with Verizon's LTE bands did pass through the FCC, and it does lack CDMA.

It'll only support T-Mobile HSPA+ on PCS (1900). You'll see AWS referred to as either "AWS" or "1700" on most spec sheets. AT&T devices support LTE bands 2 and 4, so it'll support LTE fine on T-Mobile. According to the FCC authorization info, it lacks band 12 (which isn't very surprising).
