And that Will be used for coverage?

5g is more about covering crowded spaces.  The person you spoke to has no idea what they're talking about.

I don't really see how when it isn't good for coverage. 5G isn't any good without vzw like coverage.

5G is an overlay not a replacement for LTE. It will be based on small cells since the spectrum proposed for it is not known for propagation.

Here are my thoughts about 5G based on the articles I have read:

1. Not mobility related. The devices will be either stationary or nomadic (think walking)

2. It will be an overlay, an addition to the existing LTE networks not a replacement

3. It will require a new air interface

4. It will be implemented using small cells, inside buildings, in malls, package stores, stadiums, office buildings.

5. It will provide massive bandwidth but also require massive backhaul.

6. It will be implemented in 2.5MHz and above

7. Some of the spectrum will be shared, ala 3.5GHz CBRS band, other owned.

8. Sprint will be the last to implement it, they will adopt a wait and see attitude

9. Not all implementations will be carrier provided. Think cable cos, building and venue owners.

10. At higher frequencies it will require Massive MIMO and Multi-user MIMO as well as Beam Directing

I was told last week from my contact that 3-4 were live in Cleveland and 1 scheduled for November in Columbus near Children's hospital.

I had wifi calling enabled on my iPhone and was on a call a few mins ago. I had to leave the house and usually my call drops as I move away from my home but tonight the call didn't drop but smoothly transitioned to the network!!!

Same here! I kinda forgot I had it on and thought well this is about to drop but when I got to the light it was still connected. Nice to see that they got this running in my area atleast.

I still like see 150 download on averge for lte advance .

Must be nice. I'm trying to figure out as to why I no longer get b41 in my area. I get thown on b26 and it's a pain but the b25 is 10x10 so that makes up for it. But I'd rather have my b41 back. Is it possible that Sprint can shut it off for a area after I've had it for over a year now and even added the 2nd carrier to it?

Same thing happened to me, but on two separate 5x5 channels. It is really bad, but in my case an apartment building was put up right next to my home tower killing my line of sight.

Atleast you have a reason for yours . In my case I have no clue. Sprint tells me nothing is wrong with the tower that's less than a mile from me. They even had the 2nd carrier live in my neighborhood since the iPhone 6s was released. All I can do is just keep reporting on the Sprint app and hopefully that shakes some tables.

That's awesome! I've noticed this in the past but not many people believed me because they couldn't seem to replicate it. Good to hear others are seeing this new capability as well.

Maybe you got your band 41 from a clear site which was decommissioned?

Marcelo Claure and other important executives. If so, I can't imagine them being satisfied with their service. Or do executives of mobile carriers have exclusive VIP roaming agreements with other carriers?

They should use it. Not only is it free. They can use the same exact service their customers use. Hopefully they try to solve the coverage and capacity problems. I'm sure near the headquarters and probably all around the headquarters city service is probably great.

Why do you imagine Claure being unsatisfied.

I've had all 4 carriers. Sprint is a distant 4th and it's not even close. T-Mobile blows them away in my area (Baltimore). Sprint is very slow plus T-Mobile and AT&T have HSPA+ as a fallback network, which is a better technology and faster than CDMA (14.4 Mbps minimum max speed vs 3 Mbps). Verizon is CDMA also but they have the biggest LTE network.

4 years into the LTE transition, it's unacceptable to be falling back to CDMA constantly in populated areas. Sprint is the only carrier that this happens to.

I would say marcelo uses sprint. Marcelo is always mainly in markets where sprint performs well. He doesn't drive he Flys so he is probably not experiencing the bad part of the network to often

    • Was able to install the March 1 Android security patch. Seems slightly more accurate with 5g ca band id, but can not swear by it. Updated google play system update through the software information screen to March 1. *#73# still works. Froze updates waiting on SCP update beta to fix n41 showing as n38.
    • Just installed it. Thanks for the info.  71 mb mar 1st date.
    • There's a permit for a new 47 story building at 205 Montague St in Downtown Brooklyn. The problem is that  T-Mobile eNB 48352 is on the building next door and this new building will block two out of 3 sectors of the site. For reference, the new building will be roughly as tall as 16 Court St which is right across the street. This site is the primary site covering Cadman Plaza so I wonder what the plan is. Will they just try to change sector placement, move to a different building, or will this just speed up the conversion of the Sprint site at 25 Monroe Place?
    • At least not recently.  I think I might have seen this a year ago.  Not Sure.
    • Did they previously hop between n38 and n41 in prior version of SCP, or have you always seen n41 displayed properly?
