Current Sprint PRLs

EVDO roaming may have been shut off, but as AJ says, 1xRTT is either on, or off. There is no data switch in the PRL for 1xRTT. Your Verizon hotspot is likely running on EVDO. 1xRTT is extremely slow to begin with, and any amount of traffic will cut into available speeds (think Kbps as the top speed).

No what I'm saying is that when I roam on Verizon EVDO on my sprint phone it doesn't load anything but it works fine on my Verizon MiFi. It's perplexed me - I can't seem to come up with a good explanation.

Then Verizon is not authenticating your device. If it's even an area that allows EVDO roaming.

A PRL update seems to have caused the problem so it is only natural thinking that another PRL update will fix it. I have experienced the same thing ever since I got PRL 55051 and no, it is not that Verizon's CDMA network has become decrepit in my area for my Verizon hotspot works fine on CDMA. I don't really know what the problem is but it sure seems like it was that 55051 PRL update.

It started with PRL 55051 as you say.

Whether it was caused by the PRL 55051 update or merely coincidental timing, right after my phone updated to PRL 55051 I lost all roaming (voice/text/data) on I-35 north of Mason City, IA to around the first rest area in MN and in the "I-90 gap" in Sprint service between Austin and the Rochester turnoff.  After a call to Sprint customer service eventually voice/text roaming came back, then later on 1x data, so I suspect authentication issues.  Also note that according to Sprint's coverage map I-35 north of Mason City is supposed to have native Sprint EVDO all the way to the Minnesota border but my phone has always switched to roaming or no service by time I pass by the Diamond Jo casino (Exit 214).

Does PRL 55052 take away EVDO roaming from USCC sites? The "3G & More" coverage map has been updated again and there's no longer 3G extended coverage shown in Nebraska,

USCC was EVDO roaming, but it counted as off network usage. It was never considered "Roaming+" or "Extended." The 3G & More map correctly shows USCC coverage as off network roaming. You'll just get EVDO in that area, whereas in many Verizon roaming areas you'll still be on 1x.

USCC LTE roaming still shows, but that's a different map.

I wish I'd saved a screenshot of the previous version of the "3G & More map.  I thought it was strange that USCC EVDO showed as Roaming+ (pseudonative) but USCC LTE was roaming -- this would allow people to put their phones in CDMA mode and avoid the roaming data cap, albeit with slower speeds.

This page indicates "Off Network Roaming" is all 1x: http://shop2.sprint.com/en/stores/popups/compare_data_speeds_popup.shtml

There isn't a category listed for EVDO non-Extended roaming.

USCC didn't actually show as "Roaming+". The colors were really similar, so it would be easy to confuse, but it was actually shown as 3G Roaming vs. "Nationwide" roaming. I'll see if I have a screenshot.

Edit: Here's the screenshot.

Thanks, I still wonder if PRL 55052 removes EVDO roaming since the current coverage map no longer shows it and it's not listed on the speeds chart.

Has anyone had a chance to look through PRLs 55052 and 54052 to see what's changed yet?

Afaik, no because no one has uploaded a copy of the changed PRL yet. Guess I'll do it this evening if no one else has by then....

Well, I was going to try to look at it at work this morning, but the software I normally use isn't working.  I'll have to try it at home (slower, but should function in any case).

EDIT:  Right after posting, I figured out what was wrong.  Will have something shortly.

Here are the changes I see:

In Geo 3, the preferred roaming partners are now SIDs 6498, 21625, and 6499, with EV-DO.  (6498 is United Wireless, 6499 is Nex-Tech Wireless.  21625 isn't in the list I have.)

In Geo 4, Sprint native service now includes SIDs 4166 and 22424, the roaming priority of 4305 was increased, and 1211/1465/6488/152 were added.  (See Geo 9 below.)

In Geo 5, 1382 and 1996 were added as preferred roaming partners.  (C-Spire.)

In Geo 6, 4305 was increased, but also added to roaming are 264/1394/2094/113.  2094 comes with EV-DO.  (113 is Verizon, 264/1394 is C-Spire, 2094 is not in my list.  4305 is SI Wireless.)

In Geo 7, 4305 was increased, but 1280/6490/6492 were added.  All three come with EV-DO.  (All three are Bluegrass Cellular.)

Geo 9 is now gone, having been merged into Geo 4.  5911 is the only roaming SID not to make the jump.  The other geos are renumbered accordingly.  (5911 is US Cellular.)

In the former Geo 12, now Geo 11, 193 and 318 are added.  (US Cellular and Alltel, accordingly.)

In the former Geo 14, now Geo 13, 4305 was increased.

Is this from PRL 55052 or PRL 54052? I've noticed one of my friends with an andriod got 55052 while it seems that iPhone users received 54052...

I don't think there's a way for me to get 54052 off my iPhone...did any one else get 54052 that would be so kind as to upload it so we could figure out the differences?

This is the best I can find. http://prl.digiblur.com/Sprint_55021.txt

Take note that there is some changes since that PRL from 11/10/2014

If I search for "4120"(1X 1900) or "22407"(1X 800) (SIDs for DFW and East Texas) I find it is in geo 4.
