Sorry I got mixed up.  Was on mobile and didnt noticed that i was posting in a non member area...  It wont happen again.  But to me looking up i didnt see any wires coming from many of the antennas.  And the site ID did not come from S4GRU.  I got it at the site.  It was on a sight behind the fence at the site.  Thanks for the info.  Is it hard for them to hide the cables behind the equipment?  I mean to my eyes it looked as if hardly any of those antennas had any wires coming off of them.  I wish i had my binoculars when i was out yesterday.

The first rule is to stop calling them panels.  They are antennas.  A panel is what you find a breaker or other junctions in.

Zooming in on the pictures on my computer once i got them from my phone it seems I see 1 wire going into the back of the antennas?  is that how they actually are?  the original 1900 LTE antennas?

yeah after looking at other pictures i notice the same so i assume that 1 cable is the only one needed to goto those antennas.

Hey guys so today i ventured to an LTE site I had yet to venture to due to its location and saw the paperwork that was at that site attached to the fence in a plastic ziplock baggie.  So i noticed on the front page it said "SPRINT NETWORK VISION MMBS LAUNCH"  so what exactly is MMBS?  I noticed that this site was only a B25 site with sub par speeds, and of note this site was also in the middle of nowhere, very minimal amount of people there in that area.  The site ID is SE54XC084 if anyone was interested.  And at the site there were 2 cabinets, with 3 more base mount slots for 3 more cabinets if that helps.  I noticed the last person who had been there was the inspector for some work they had done previously.  The date was 7/23/2014.  so very recent.  Ill upload a picture of something else I am curious about in a little bit that i noticed at the site.  Thanks in advance.

Ah so its the cabinet then?  Now I feel so dumb...  We use similar cabinets like this where I work for our fiber optics...  So i totally should of caught onto that.  Epic Fail on my part :(

MMBS = multi standard base station from Samsung

BBU = backup battery unit

Anyone have any idea whose these are? In case it is not clear, these are three seperate towers that are temporary towers at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA because the football stadium was demolished. I think that the tallest is an old MetroPCS tower that is now T-Mobile, the one with one panel per sector is Sprint and the middle with 2 panels per sector is Verizon. Am I right? How can you tell? This one is Sprints. Note the RRUs are the same ones in the first post of this thread and the antennas have 6 RF jumper ports.

MIMO.

 

You need multiple antennas. Standard nowadays is 2T2R which requires two separate transmit and receive oaths at the eNB and UE.

Ok so PCS: 2 ports for LTE, 1 port for EVDO/eHRPD, 1 port for 1x; SMR: 2 ports for LTE...what about 1x800?

Why doesn't Sprint do that on PCS? If they shared the transmit path there, they could do 4x4 without a second antenna…

The RRH has a limit to the number of carriers that can share a transmit path. For example, the Ericsson RRUS 35 supports a maximum of two LTE and six CDMA carriers simultaneously, but no more than 4 carriers can share any single transmit path. So to run the maximum number of carriers, you'll have two LTE and two CDMA carriers on one set of paths and four CDMA carriers on the other set.

 

There's actually a site in Central, Lousiana that does run 4x4 MIMO with a single RRH and antenna, but it's only running one LTE carrier and presumably no more than 3 CDMA carriers.

 

EDIT: I just noticed this was in the Samsung thread, so perhaps someone who is more familiar with that equipment could offer more details about its specific limitations.

It's a similar deal with all of sprints dual rat equipment.

      Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.

      Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.

      Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
