Mondays In Flames
HTC and Facebook today released a new phone, and new Facebook Home app. http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/htc-first/4505-6452_7-35575658.html I find this to be a completely strange phone, it's based on Android 4.1, but it's a Facebook Skin, yet Facebook is going to release the Home app on April 12. What would make this phone attractive in anyway to buy? (Besides maybe price) Also what do you guys think of the phone in general?
themuffinman
A lot of people been talking bad about the phone but I honestly think that its decent for what it is and who its for, and that's the point of this phone. I think it will also make for a great choice for parents who don't want to spend more than they have to on a phone for their kids. Also, HTC should have launch this on more than just one carrier. miguell2
HTC should have launch this on more than just one carrier. Perhaps a feeler at first to see how it does on AT&T cause GSM chips in those bands are cheaper and if it does poorly they can backdown without drilling a hole in their pockets, that's my take. Paynefanbro
Facebook made a good first step in Andorid developing. They used a launcher as a UI. People have been begging for that forever. If Google were to build KLP as a launcher for other phones, it would have even more adoption. Mark Zuckerberg said that a phones is lucky to sell 10 million units by itself, by creating a launcher adoption rates increase tenfold, and potentially 100 million people can be on it. Paynefanbro
I couldn't help but notice that on HTC's website it says that the HTC First is able to use LTE on 1900Mhz and 850Mhz. It made no mention of AT&T LTE bands which is quite weird.
Fraydog
Is it running a MDM9615? If so, I don't see any reason why Sprint couldn't get in line with this once AT&T exclusivity expires.
ericdabbs
Ehh I don't see how popular this facebook phone will be. I know its called the HTC First but it could also be called the HTC Last if it doesn't draw any market share.
Paynefanbro
I think that it's revolutionary. They did exactly what people have wanted for years. The phone is running the launcher with pure Android underneath. It's great! Facebook isn't going for phone sales as much as downloads of the launcher. You can sell 10 Million phones if you are lucky, but you can get 100 Million downloads of that launcher.
Mondays In Flames
I think that it's revolutionary. I read somewhere that this exemplifies the battle of iOS and Android. So in a way this could actually help android in the long run, by people adopting android without really knowing it. Just something I read somewhere -Luis
