Network Vision/LTE - Minnesota Market

Been in Duluth since sunday(mini honeymoon as I just got married on Saturday) and I have had 4g everywhere that we have gone. Don't think I dropped to 3g once. And it's pretty speedy too. Won't have a chance to drive around d doing some mapping as I think the wife would kill me. Now sprint just needs to fix the drive up here as I quite often drop to 3g.

Congrats! Does the wife know about your cell tower addiction yet? :P

Did you spot any B41 while in Duluth? Or were you too busy. ;)

Now, should the wife be seamless or not.  I am confused on that one.

;)

The wife was seamless as she didn't have anything with seams on. ;-)

Only saw band 26 and 25 when I checked. But this time last year only had about half as much coverage it seemed like.

And thanks for the congrats everyone.

I'm in the Minneapolis suburbs and Sprint is the only good carrier out here.

I've got a Verizon Mifi pulling down 1-2mbps on LTE, ATT was unusable on the work phone (Wouldn't even catch a ping on LTE), and T-Mobile LTE was 2-4mbps on my iPad.

Sprint is at 25mbps in the same spots as the other 3 carriers. It's great being the underdog!

Meanwhile my home tower just sucks, even with a decent signal strength it's sooooo slow all the time. Grrrrr

That top one is about what I got around the Maplewood mall a couple days ago.

We drove through Austin about a month ago, heading to Rochester. I really didn't have an issue until around 5 miles outside the city.

All the towers in Albert Lea, Waseca, Owatonna, Mankato, Fairbault and Rochester have 800mhz

radios, that why I was shocked that Austin didn't. It seems like a perfect place to use

800mhz service. I wonder why they don't have them installed?

Apparently this issue isn't completely resolved.  When I stopped at the westbound rest area east of Austin a couple of weeks ago I had no service.

My wish list for new towers in south central Minnesota

1. 5 miles east side and west of Austin, Mn - i90

2. Claremont, Mn - Hwy 14

3. Frost, Mn area - i90

4. Wells/Alden, Mn - i90

5. New Richland, Mn - Hwy 13

6. Janesville, Mn - Hwy 14

1 & 4 would be such a god send. Especially since there were Nextel towers exactly where you mentioned. Some day.

Had a trip from Twin Cities to Duluth and talk about a lot of 3G on Interstate 35. Sometimes went to roaming. Data at times was unusable. Hope they improve this soon.

Yeah, same on 169 from Mankato to intersection of 169 and 494. Thought this was supposed to be Sprint's better market. But, so far I'm not impressed.

For the most part I get good service in the cities and I'm using a triband phone. They need to get good LTE along the Interstate.

Anyone in Minnesota finding any 2nd band 25 carriers anywhere. I think it might be possible up in Duluth. Not sure about anywhere else.

That's where Signal Check Pro shows the little 2 by the 25, right? I routinely see that in Eden Prairie, where I work.

Can you please grab a screenshot of SCP and your engineering screen along with your location?

    • I posted this in the Nebraska Premier thread last week, but just wanted to share in this thread the progress that T-Mobile has made in filling in the great coverage gap known as Nebraska. Between late last year and this year, they have added 28 new expansion sites filling in the coverage hole, plus 11 Sprint site conversions in eastern Nebraska and far western Iowa. Notably, in the last month n41 coverage was added on over a dozen expansion sites in western Nebraska that were added to the network last year. For comparison, here is the very first map that I created in October of 2022 after we noted expansion sites outside of Sprint conversion in Lincoln and Omaha. It doesn't show any western parts of the state, but just know there was nothing besides roaming coverage and a little B12 coverage leaking down from South Dakota to the west of Valentine, NE.
    • Sent a copy of my DB in an e-mail just now.  Couldn't leave the house today but can hopefully get a screenshot when I'm out on another cell site tomorrow.
    • 76MB Google Play System update after that, bringing the date up to 3/1 from prior 2/1 date.
    • April security patch is already out - 738.30 MB download.
    • What do you see with the latest alpha/ beta version?
