I searched the forum and could not find any answers or information. Was wondering if anyone knows when cincinnati may get working 4g lte? I was told by sprint sales person that the towers are up and should be full working within 2 months, but i believe thats just a lie to try and get me to sign a 2yr contract.

Codie is right. Deployment will not begin in the Cincy market until sometime in 2013.

I live in Cincinnati (Clifton area) and I work up in West Chester. I feel like I have been seeing better data speeds, especially compared to a few months ago. I stream music all the way up the I-75 corridor and speeds were so bad I couldnt stream a song without buffering multiple times. Now there are only a few spots where its like that.

i live out in blanchester in the middle of no where get about 2mpbs download, which i am fine with. at work in fairfeild i cant stream music for more the 5mins then have to wait 10-15mins before it comes back. one time i checked speed it was around 300kpbs

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but I don't think the Iphone will tell if it is on eHRPD just "Cellular"

According to Bollar, I think if you go into the Field Test screens using *3001#12345#* you might be able to see it there... All I can do is look and see

I have a theory for LTE in Cincinnati and I hope my theory is totally wrong.

 

We have Wimax and I doubt that when LTE makes it here it wont be of the 1900 Mhz variety but rather of the 800 Mhz flavor.

 

I think that we will get 800 Mhz LTE shortly after IDEN is shut off next summer.

 

This also means the current batch of LTE devices wouldnt be able to use it anyway because they only can use the 1900 Mhz band.

 

I really hope im wrong but I think I own a device that will never see LTE in its lifetime while in the Cincinnati area.

Why would Sprint not deploy 1900 MHz LTE in Cincinnati when they are deploying it on every cell site (except a small percentage that cannot be upgraded)?

You might see both 1900 and 800 MHz LTE in the roll out at the time, but the claim that you will never see 1900 MHz is ridiculous.

      Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.

      Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.

      Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
