No 3g data?

I was wondering if anyone can help me fix my data problem. It shows that i am connected to 1x but not 3g, and i have the data speeds to confirm it. I have called sprint and had them do all their trouble shooting. They just want to replace the device now, which I dont want to do. Never had good luck with refurbs.

I am rooted, with a custom rom installed. I tried hard reseting, soft reseting, reseting the data profile from the ##data# menu. Any suggestions?

I had a problem with a ROM on my Evo Shift one time that caused that same thing. I quickly changed back to another ROM I knew worked.

Well i tried that' date=' it shows "3g" but isn't connected to 3g. Still 1x speeds and it still shows 1x under the debug menu.[/quote']

Hmm, Sprint had to rebuild my account and had me manually provision my phone before I got working 3G data on my Viper when I first activated it.

Any more suggestions? I really don't want to have to exchange my phone for a non s-off one..

I think you should consider yourself fortunate to get any exchange at all. That would be a gift. Does the warranty normally cover rooted and modded phones that stop working? The common sense rule is that folks who mod their phones are at their own risk from that point, especially for software issues.

As long as the rooting isn't what broke it, sprint will replace it. Seeing as this happens even at complete stock..

If i received a new phone updated phone i wouldnt be able to s-off it.

I am assuming you did a hard rest right? Well if you did, instead of going under settings to hard reset your phone go to the dial pad and type ##786#, I am not sure if it will ask for you msl or not(I don't think it will), hit menu then hit reset. This will hard reset your phone a little more thoroughly than just going through settings to do so. It may be a long shot but give it a try.

if you have an extra sprint phone, try doing an swap with it, then swap back (with the phone off) after a few hours (in a good sprint coverage area-outside) and try the ##786# again

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
