ericdabbs
Please refer to this thread for information. Baltimore is scheduled to be one of the first markets to get LTE. Read the article for more information. There have been too many threads about people asking about LTE live status and most of the questions could be answered in the articles from the thread below. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/212-network-visionlte-deployment-running-list/

meatpuppet
Does anyone know if any of these upgrades will actually improve reception in a given spot? I've lived in a 1-bar Sprint area for many years and am just curious if, when the upgrades are turned on, I will notice any difference. Like, might I then see 2 or 3 bars all of the sudden? It would be great to not have my battery drain before my eyes as the phone trys to keep a network connection, which is what happens if I'm not on the Airave. Better reception is all I hope to get out of these changes, and i could care less about LTE and improved data speeds as I am on WiFi all the time at home. Sprint has said the NV towers will provide a 20% increase, but no on really knows what they mean. The radios are being moved from the cabinets to behind the antenna panels to no lose signal in the cable run up the tower. The antenna panels are also more efficient. However, this 20% could be a stronger signal with a greater downtilt in an urban area, in a rural area it could be 20% better coverage so you might go from 1 bar to 2 bars. It all depends on the tower that you are connecting to and how it is configured.

NV also includes adding 1xadvanced to the 800 spectrum, which will help with signal strength for voice. I don't know the timeline, but there are a few sites that already have it added. marioc21
According to Sprint, Baltimore will launch in August. Confirmed today on the earnings update. I think the exact phrasing was "by the end of". So it'll probably be closer to August 31 than August 1.

On July 15 we launched 4G LTE in five major markets and 15 cities, including Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Atlanta and Kansas City. We also announced the accelerated LTE launch in Waco, Texas and expect to launch four additional cities, including Baltimore, by the end of August. Hopefully it is sooner, rather than later... ugg no boston
broganmc
Just give me LTE by the time the Ravens games begin and then I'll be happy.
Pillowsplat
Is the Atlanta / Houston launch the expected model? Ehprd in the area –test the LTE for a couple of hours - then flip the switch after an announced date.
sethg28
Has anyone tried to see if they have been able to pick up a 4G LTE signal in around Baltimore, I know that Sprint is said to have LTE up and running by labor day. Post here if you have seen any early connections or have any info about the LTE that will be availabe in around Baltimore. Thanks
S4GRU
I haven't seen or heard any Baltimore reports of LTE yet, nor LTE sites reported from Sprint. But it should be any day now. Robert via CM9 Kindle Fire using Forum Runner
HiveKiller
I have LTE at my house (Baltimore County) which seemed to turn up on Saturday or so, but have not seen it anywhere else yet. I have full bars of 4G showing on my Galaxy Nexus and speedtest shows around 8ish mbps up and down.

HiveKiller
Sure - Liberty Road (RT26) and North Rolling Road is the general area.
S4GRU
Sure - Liberty Road (RT26) and North Rolling Road is the general area. Thanks! Does it seem like it would be coming from the site on the roof of Northwest Hospital, or more like the monopole just north of the Giant grocery store on Milford Mill Road? Robert I'm closer to the Giant then the Hospital - so the tower near the giant would be my guess. I haven't really been able to look at it while moving closer/farther from either site.
browning
I really hope those speeds are not the norm when this opens up. Verizon speeds are substantially faster on the speedtest results I've done.
S4GRU
I really hope those speeds are not the norm when this opens up. Verizon speeds are substantially faster on the speedtest results I've done. Prepare to be disappointed. Sprint is advertising its LTE at 6-8Mbps, with peaks up to 25Mbps. We have seen speeds into the 30's, in ideal circumstances. However, 98% of us will be satisfied with speeds like what Sprint is advertising. Also, I have a Verizon LTE hotspot. I most often get download speeds of 8-15Mbps. It's not as great in all places as everyone thinks. And there are lots of times it is in the 5-8Mbps range. Sprint's LTE is competitive enough with Verizon, and when you consider unlimited data, then it is a wonderful thing. Besides, almost no one can tell the difference between 10Mbps and 30Mbps anyways, unless they are downloading very large files. Robert It makes a huge difference if you are streaming anything and multi-tasking other apps, etc. I've been with Sprint over 13 years and won't be going anywhere. SERO is far too good to give up. Still, the 3G speeds I'm getting right now on the EVO LTE are horrible in most places. I've seen LTE speeds of 20+ consistently in some areas with Verizon. Seems Sprint continually falls short of everyone else. I would agree unlimited data is huge. I suppose we'll just have to see how it all works out in the end. I'm in the DC market but venture into Baltimore market frequently so I'm anxiously awaiting some real life experiences soon.
dcshobby
You still can't say that 8mbps or 20mbps is gonna make a difference for video streaming on a phone. Netflix will look the same because it will never use anywhere close to 8mbps on a phone and anything above 6-8mbps is just extra speed goodness.
