Information about S4GRU Sponsorship levels and how to become a Sponsor

Clarification needed here, is it a sponsor violation to upload a screenshot from the Open Signal map app onto the S4GRU public forum?

No. But Open Signal is highly inaccurate for site locations.

Please note than on sponsor renewals, we are no longer accepting really low donation amounts (like $1). We feel that renewing members specifically understand the benefits of being a S4GRU Sponsor, and understand our costs and what it takes to keep the site online.

If you are suffering from severe financial distress and up for renewal, please send me a PM explaining your circumstances. We may be able to extend your deadlines for renewal, accept a substandard donation or be able to find another member to gift your renewal for six months. However, please note that $1 renewal donations will be refunded, and your sponsorship will not be extended.

Our expenses are growing every month and with the Holidays, our member giving is down. I thank you all for your understanding. And we appreciate all of you who support S4GRU.

I have been monitoring the site for tall the 4g roll outs, i just made a small donation with Christmas coming up i plan on supporting more in the months to come.

Thanks for all you do.

Mike

I had a donation yesterday that I couldn't figure out who it was from. I sent back an email asking for the screen name, but I didn't get a response. But now that I read your post, I now know who it's from.

Thanks for supporting S4GRU.

I enjoy this forum very much and would rather have it member sponsored than all those annoying banner ads in other places.

I really think this can/will become the #1 place to discuss Sprint.

I'll get to premier.

We only accept donations via PayPal or you can mail a check to me. If you want to mail a check, send me a PM.

I don't have paypal, but I have successfully made multiple donations via the link on the site. Just type in all your info to the left of the paypal log-in.

  • 2 weeks later...

Forgot to place Screen Name in comments section of donation but sent PM showing confirmation page of donation. I even told myself to remember to place name in comments and STILL forgot haha sorry about that.

I was able to figure it out easy. However, I worked until 2am last night and slept in this morning. I upgraded you as soon as I woke up. Thanks for supporting S4GRU.

Is it possible to donate via credit/debit cards? I have a debit visa gift card and I would like to use it to help out this site. (Also, visa doesn't let me refill that gift card so I want to get rid of it ASAP)

Edit: never mind, figured it out

Yes. You can click on the donate button and pay via PayPal with a credit card. No need for a PayPal account even. Thanks!

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
    • At some point over the weekend, T-Mobile bumped the Omaha metro from 100+40 to 100+90 of n41! That's a pretty large increase from what we had just a few weeks ago when we were sitting at 80+40Mhz. Out of curiosity, tested a site on my way to work and pulled 1.4Gpbs. That's the fastest I've ever gotten on T-Mobile! For those that know Omaha, this was on Dodge street in Midtown so not exactly a quiet area!
