Sprint 4G Rollout Updates

Monday, February 27, 2012 - 11:49 AM MST

Sprint has issued a Press Release that Señor Hesse will be speaking at MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona, España this week. You think he is going to break with some exciting Network Vision news? Or will it only be things we have already covered at S4GRU.com?

Either way, MWC is largely a GSM event, so for Dan Hesse to show up and speak is kind of a big deal. He's a cookin' a sumthin' up!

I think it may be a bit early to talk about new LTE devices. Seems more like they would wait until April/May and CTIA to talk about what's coming in the back half of the year. Maybe he will give a status update of NV and officially announce the rest of the markets for the year

gonna say the PalmPre is making a comeback! lol

doubt he says jack about any "new" device less its release dates for the nexus and LG they already stated they were having. Prolly more about NV LTE and stuff like that.

I am curious if he has been always scheduled to talk or if this is a last minute addition based on the customer disappointment with no Sprint-related news from HTC and LG.

Like a few more WP7 phones ;-)

I think we won't be seeing WP7 phones until we see how WP7 fares with LTE and the demand on other carriers. AT&T seems to be the leader in ushering in new WP7 LTE phones and it will be interesting to see the demand and performance of these phones. Based on the reaction from tech analysts and enthusiasts from the Nokia WP7 phones from CES it looks to be promising. I am sure Sprint will be monitoring AT&T to see the market for WP7 phones. If the demand is there, I can see Sprint launching a WP7 phone either late this year or early next year. For now Sprint is focusing on the iPhone and Android phones with LTE.

I hope Hesse gives an update on Network Vision progress along with releasing the last 4 markets slated for a June kick off. In addition, I would like to hear more about the iDEN thinning tower strategy and whether any of those towers will be preserved. I doubt we will hear anything on the LTE device front since the 2 phones and hotspot are enough to salivate over for the time being. I see new LTE devices being announced either at CTIA or sometime in May or June right when the LTE markets go live.

Well, I have learned to not get excited when it comes to any sort of sprint announcement, as a matter of fact I am already disappointed so if anything worth wild is mentioned then I will be pleasantly surprised. Personally though with the lack of any decent releases from sprint since the epic touch I don't see how they can wait until ctia in may to start talking about devices. With wimax on the way out and lte on the way in sprint needs to build some kind of momentum to get people to want to be on their network.

Currently, S4GRU is the only thing out there attempting to maintain momentum for Sprint. Dan Hesse needs to visit our PayPal donation section and make a donation!!! :)

I'm hopeful that he utters the word EVO and has some promising and exciting words to follow. If nothing else, just let us know a new one is in the works and can be expected to blow away the competition.

Must not have been anything important as none of the press seems to be saying anything about it at the moment. Oh well, there's always CTIA :)
