At a Bank of America investor conference this morning, Sprint CFO Joe Euteneuer said, "We thought (the iPhone) would do very, very well for us, and it has." In fact, Sprint is now estimating it will sell more than one million iPhones before the end of the quarter on December 31st.
But more importantly, Euteneur credits unlimited data as the reasons for the iPhone launch success. "We're also get

Sprint continues its iDEN thinning plan that it announced a few months ago in full force. It is wrapping up the removal of 83 sites in the Nextel New Orleans market and readily preparing to mobilize nationwide in 20 of 21 remaining Nextel markets to do the same.
Based on newly obtained internal documents, from mid April 2012 through the end of June, Sprint plans on decommissioning over 9,000 of Nextel's

Sprint Nextel joined the Rural Cellular Association (RCA) in April 2011, the reasons for joining at that time could have been motivated by the proposed AT&T purchase of T-Mobile and increasing their lobbying power with the RCA. Recently though, Sprint has been working towards partnerships with other RCA members on network sharing and spectrum hosting arrangements to increase their LTE coverage footprint.

Yesterday, Sprint updated us all that we can expect devices in the 3rd and 4th Quarter of 2012. Previously, Sprint has used terminology that it expects to release LTE devices in Mid 2012. Of course, because something new was said, the blogosphere and message boards have gone bonkers exclaiming delays.
The big deal probably comes from the assumption that many folks have made that Sprint would relea

This is really the situation in Sprint's Chicago market. Today in a Sprint Q4 2011 Conference Call, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse announced Kansas City and Baltimore as receiving Network Vision overhauls (including LTE deployment) in Mid 2012. Most of the conference call was focused on financial reporting, and more specifically how the iPhone impacted financials. This is something Wall Street has been clamoring for since Sprint announced it was getting the iPhone back i

I know some of you who live in Sprint affiliate coverage areas are concerned about Network Vision deployments and whether they’ll ever make it to your area. And rightfully so, since too many affiliate areas are still covered with 1xRTT networks, having never even been upgraded to 3G EVDO. This has created some concern among Sprint affiliate customers because there has been zero news to date about how,

In part one of this series, we discussed how Sprint could theoretically leverage its long held PCS A-F block spectrum to deploy a second 5 MHz x 5 MHz LTE channel in many markets alongside the 5 MHz x 5 MHz LTE channel that Sprint plans to roll out in its unused, nationwide PCS G block 10 MHz spectrum. Here is the rundown:

Verizon Wireless (VZW) and AT&T Mobility (AT&T) have the Upp
Normally the licenses with the overlapping geographic service areas "split the football" by straight line of the intersection area of the two radius circle areas for just the shared frequencies. However private deals between the parties are also possible, and have been encouraged by the FCC in some situations when the service areas overlap by more than 50%. The special conditions section on the admin page of the NW Spectrum leases can be said to support this: "This spectrum lease does not incl
My only question is what happens when EBS licenses overlap? Do we know how it's determined who uses what and where? For example in NYC, NW Spectrum (NextWave) has two leases that apply to 2624-2640.5MHz covering all of NYC but T-Mobile also leases that same slice of EBS from someone else that covers most of NYC, but not all.
