Apple Watch monthly LTE Charge?

Recommended Posts

I chatted with Sprint and they will not discuss pricing till Friday. I tried telling the rep that the LTE Watch 1st production run will be sold out within the first hour so it would be nice to know the pricing....crickets.......:(

Really? Of course, Sprint has to be the odd man out. I guess at 3AM EST Friday we'll know for sure.

If they were coming out with an amazing deal, I'm sure they would have touted it by now in front of the competition. Probably going to be $10/mo.

well...sadly I came to the conclusion that the LTE Apple Watch is not for me. The Watch only has LTE data and no failover to CDMA (NO CDMA Radio) and I run into a lot of 3G areas still.....Verizon has the same issue BUT I bet their LTE coverage is much better...

Are the specs out on the LTE connectivity for the Watch? Triband?

Here's how I look at it: Is there LTE in the areas where you would plan to ONLY have your watch, and not have it tethered to your phone?

I can find plenty of 3G around here, but if I have my phone with me anyways (not working out, or on a walk), the watch will still work. When I'm at the gym and don't have my phone on me, that's when LTE matters. (And the gym does have LTE)

I would still get the LTE watch if you can, chances are those 3G areas will be upgraded and even if not, are they somewhere you don't plan on having your phone with you?

Given that there are no CDMA technologies on the Apple Watch, calling will have to be over LTE, right? (When you’re not with your iPhone).

I was wondering about this as well...Sprint does not have VoLTE yet? How does it make calls???

Looks like it's going to be 3-months free initially per their press release.

Macworld states:

"Sprint's data plan for Apple Watch Series 3 costs $15 a month, but customers who sign up for auto-pay will get a $5 discount, bringing it down to the same $10 as the other three carriers. And Sprint is also offering a three-month free trial with no activation fee."

Pretty crappy if you don't do AutoPay, so that's a must. Sprint intentionally pricing themselves higher than the competition seems like a bold move to me.

On Reddit in the iPhone 8 mega thread it posts the 24 month installment pricing for the Apple Watch Series 3 Cellular.

    • This has dragged out a bit so I want to keep everyone else in the loop.. just about everything is ready for release. However, I discovered a significant bug in a permissions library created by another developer that SignalCheck uses. I am working with that developer to get it fixed before I push out a public update. Without the fix, some of the ongoing issues with Android permissions will continue to persist. -Mike
    • end of the day on B41 my voice quality sux when near RSRP -110 and when on B25 I am able to have a normal call even at RSRP -115 quality.
    • I have B5 as 17/27/37/47/57/67 (dec) from @Trip but that's the only confirmed B5 data I have received. The 15.. 16.. 18.. 19.. examples do not conflict with anything else I have noted, so all of those might be accurate. Have you definitively confirmed each of those? I can't wait for the day when every device reports EARFCNs.. @david279 mentioned above that Samsungs are reporting on the Oreo 8.1 preview which is huge.   Keep me updated.. I just have to be careful to assume that something deployed in one market is going to hold true elsewhere (i.e. T-Mobile's mess).   NSG is not a good comparison, because they do not use native Android API methods, they communicate directly with the modem using routines not available to anyone else. It results in great data, but for now it's not the type of information within my reach. But I should be able to do anything CellMapper is showing -- could you give more details? SCP should show the same data.   Sure, so GCI like FAxxxxxx / FBxxxxxx? Can you confirm any other details? PLMN 311480 I assume? Nobody has mentioned them. -Mike
    • Blocks are definitely less, but it has happened to me on one of my devices within the last day.
    • I noticed today my S8+ calls are going through LTE eventhough my VoLTE is disabled.
