Well, it's simple: do you plan on ever leaving Sprint, and don't mind the additional monthly cost? If not, just do iPhone Forever because it's cheaper than easy pay, and you don't have to worry about getting it unlocked and selling it. If you can afford to pay full-price, then go that route. I like this lease because I can go case-less, and not have to worry about scratching the phone. Normal wear is ok for the return, as long as the screen isn't cracked. I was always obsessed with keeping a pristine device for when it came time to sell it.

I may finance directly through Apple if I get a 6S this time. That way I can just be on Verizon without a contract and bolt to someone else if I move. Hopefully there's just one US model and all the US models for all the carriers support both B12 and B41.

This, exactly. I was so worried about scratching my screens that I would go overboard with cases + screen protectors.

That said, I still need to carrier & international unlock my old Sprint iPhone 6 128GB so I can sell it on Swappa.

The Barclaycard Visa is awesome... The 0% APR for 18 months on purchases over $999 is great. Plus, you get an apple rewards card out of it with 3 points per dollar spent towards apple gift cards.

Just FYI Sprint is giving $350 trade in credit value for that model right now. That's not bad to put toward your phone bill.

I'm assuming your bill total would deduct from the credit balance until it's gone but it would be nice to only deduct a certain amount from the credit each month. Like a lease fee [emoji12]

I sold my iPhone 5S (64 GB) on eBay for $600... I had it carrier unlocked for international use, and some dude from Japan bought it from me.

I'll roll the dice with eBay again -- I bet I can get at least $650-700 for the iPhone 6 128GB in near-mint condition with 1 year of AppleCare+ and international unlock.

Edit: that should partially fund my new iPad Air 3 & new Apple TV purchase!

Well, at least you had your phone paid for. My 6+ sale pays off my Easy Pay, so no Apple TV for me yet. :(

I can.

I'll be on the couch, watching the Apple TV stream. I guess I can type a few things. I wonder if this will finally be the year where I can watch without the stream being cut off, or overdubbed with a Chinese lady.

i can live feed that beast.

Well, I don't have my schedule yet for that week...which is odd. Ill probably see it today. But if I am home, I will definitely be updating here.

Ok. Due to other obligations, I'm unable to update on this thread for Wednesday's event. If you want, we can break it down to different sections that you each take to post on, ie Intro/iOS 9/WatchOS 2/(Mac OS X El Capitan?); iPhone; Apple TV; iPad Pro?; etc.

But you clearly love Apple and iOS.  Would you sell off your children every year or two to get new ones and fund other purchases?

No, you would keep your children, even as you added to the family.

We always keep my wife's iPhones - I need all screen sizes to develop & design against and it's nice to have a stash of devices frozen in time!

Saw somewgere about the screen possibly being around 488 ppi. I know the whole average eye can't distinguish nonsense, but it'll be nice to see if Apple steps up to the plate.

Also, I am officially done with 2 year contracts. 11 extra dollars a month later, and I am ready for the 6s. I also got a  nice new set of beats wireless headphones, new car charger with 4 ports (which I think will charge faster than usual like an iPad charger), invisible shield screen protector which I am saving for the 6s, tech 21 case, and an extra 3 ft lighting cable.

Happy camper here.

It is a roll of the dice with eBay, and their 10% cut is terrible. I had a mint, unlocked 6 64gb with AppleCare (still with 2 claims) sell for $610 on eBay last night. It's a little low, but I wasn't getting any bites from Craigslist (which has never happened), and needed to sell it.

I have to wait until September 19 to get my iPhone 6 international unlocked and domestic unlocked... I'm kind of bummed -- It's going to cut into the resell value.

Why such a wait? That just seems arbitrary from my perspective.

I had my iPhone 5S unlocked last year and apparently "ran out" of unlocks, even though I own the device outright now.

You're getting the runaround from Sprint reps. There is NO limit for domestic unlocks per account. There is, however, a limit on international unlocks. Call them back.

Edit: and besides, you don't need both unlocks. A DSU unlocks the sim slot completely, making it fully compatible with an international sim, too. Their specific international unlock is only for traveling customers who don't own their device.

Funny how customer care via live chat can get things done where customer service voice calls can't:

Mitchell C.: Thank you for waiting.

Mitchell C.: Stephen, I've SIM unlocked your iPhone for both domestic and international use.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
