Network Vision/LTE - Jacksonville Market (including Gainesville/St. Augustine/Ocala)

I don’t know about Jacksonville but Ocala and Gainesville have been seeing tons of b41 upgrades the past two months. Most seem to be the 10 port 2500/800 set up. With others being 8 port 2500mhz only.

I don’t know if in Jax they are doing to 2.5/800 setups but they are definitely still putting 2.5 on sites around town.
Just sucks my LTE connectivity went to shit with this latest iOS update. Taking longer to connect to sites and hangs on to 3G way longer than it should.

Sure is hard to be a iphone user on Sprint. No calling plus, hpue, 4x4 mimo support. Sprint is in the middle of adding the 10th LTE Plus site in Ocala. Just think we only had 2 LTE Plus towers in April. They are not playing around with 8 upgrades in the last 60 days.

How many are now in Gainesville?

I have not been to Gainesville in 6 weeks so I dont know but last I counted it was 5. The hospital is a mini macro on the roof. Ocala is all full build 3xCA.

Was inside of Walgreens just now, and I noticed that my signal was unusually stronger than normal. Did I field test and got B41 with UARFCN 39874. This particular Walgreens does have a Sprint express booth inside if that info helps any. Just wondering if this is B41 signal came from a small cell or possibly magic box? Any info would be great.

If they haven't yet they will most likely install a mini macro sites in most every Walgreens.  They recently turned on sites at the Walgreens in Lake City and Like Oak.  Attached is the screenshot that I took from the Lake City store today.  The nearby Macro site has not been upgraded to B41 yet

What does Sprint have a partnership with Walgreens?

Yes, they recently opened  8 Express Stores in Walgreens in Gainesville, and from I have been told by current employees ( I used to work for Sprint Corp in Gainesville) they have a large scope agreement with Walgreens and will be expanding the Express stores and installing network equipment in most stores.

That’s nice! I’m originally from Live Oak so that’s great news. I’m also in Lake City from time to time. This is awesome.

Still waiting for them to add more sites up here, but in the last 3-4 months they have obtained permits to add B41 on all the sites in Columbia County

I notice calling plus seems to prefer b25 over b26. Why is that? Lack of bandwidth for b26?

Probably so. I’m on band 25 most of the time anyway. Unless I’m out of band 25 range then I’m switched to band 26. Seem like lately Sprint has been using band 26 as a coverage band.

BTW how’s calling plus reliability?
Its decent but definitely not better than 1x800. You start hearing that robotic sound and then it goes to shit from there if your around 115 b26. I have even seen it happen with 105dbm of b25.

I'm on b25 most of the time and once 10mhz showed up on most towers converge of b25 vastly improved but lately b41 has been expanding quick. We now have ten b41 towers online. Seven from just the last 90 days and one of them came online today.

Not having VoLTE and falling back to 3G too often is making it hard for me to stay with Sprint.

It's supposed to.  If B25 and B26 are both available to the handset, it should be using B25.  It should only be running on B26 for a voice call when B25 is unavailable or cannot handle the throughput/latency for call quality.  Expect the same for VoLTE.

Sprint is going crazy in the Jax market trying to catch it up to the other markets.

This sucks because it seems like Sprint waited until it announced a merger with T-Mobile to go Bonkers with the upgrades.

If the merger goes through we will barely get to enjoy the upgrades before getting transferred to tmobiles network via software update. Tmobile is fast here but they are starting to slow down a little. Meanwhile Sprint is going from 1-2mbps to 100-200 mbps all over the place.

Video capped at 12mpbs and YouTube seems to prefer 480p majority of the time. I think merger or no merger I’m gone. I’ve hang in there with Sprint for years. Don’t want to go thru growing pains of intergrating networks.

Strange YouTube prefers 720p for me most of the time and there is a way past the video limit. It's called a VPN and yes there are free ones. The one from hubvnp is a good one. Shout out to pornhub [emoji23]. I used Nord VPN though.

    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
    • At some point over the weekend, T-Mobile bumped the Omaha metro from 100+40 to 100+90 of n41! That's a pretty large increase from what we had just a few weeks ago when we were sitting at 80+40Mhz. Out of curiosity, tested a site on my way to work and pulled 1.4Gpbs. That's the fastest I've ever gotten on T-Mobile! For those that know Omaha, this was on Dodge street in Midtown so not exactly a quiet area!
    • Did you mean a different site? eNB ID 112039 has been around for years. Streetview even has it with C-band back in 2022 - https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7303042,-73.9610924,3a,24.1y,18.03h,109.66t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1s2ossx06yU56AYOzREdcK-g!2e0!5s20220201T000000!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3D2ossx06yU56AYOzREdcK-g%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.share%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26yaw%3D18.027734930682684%26pitch%3D-19.664180274382204%26thumbfov%3D90!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205410&entry=ttu Meanwhile, Verizon's eNB 84484 in Fort Greene has been updated to include C-band and CBRS, but not mmWave. I've seen this a few times now on updated Verizon sites where it's just the CBRS antenna on its own, not in a shroud and without mmWave. Odd.
    • Drove out into the country today.  Dish stuck to my phone like glue. At least -120 rsrp. Likely only good for phone calls (should have tested.) It then switched to T-Mobile. Getting back on Dish was another issue. I am used to dragging out coverage so I expected a few miles, but had to drive at least 10 miles towards a Dish site. Airplane mode, which worked for Sprint, did nothing. Rebooting did nothing. Finally got it to change over about 2 miles from the site by manually setting the carrier to Dish then it had great reception. Sprint used to have a 15 minute timeout but I did not have the patience today.  Previously I did a speed test on Dish out in the country at the edge of Dish coverage. My speeds were 2g variety. Dish has really overclocked some of these sites. Seen rssp readings in the 50s. Would have called them boomer sites with Sprint but much  more common with Dish.
