Network Vision/LTE - Las Vegas Market

Man... I hope LV gets LTE before my vacation in July. Keep posting updates... Thanks.

Things are definitely on schedule for the first LTE spots to start showing up by Late April/ Early May, so depending on where you are going for vacation. So far no permits have been pulled by Sprint for work on their DAS's in the Strip casinos.

Not sure yet but definitely in the strip somewhere. Need to find a place to stay for about a week. Recommendation?

Here in the far South & East of the LV valley in Henderson (btw, neither filthy or rich) my Sierra Wireless Tri-Fi Hotspot from Sprint for the first time picked up an extremely faint LTE signal; maybe in test mode..I dunno; I've also wondered about the shorter cylindrical towers how they could outfit them with LTE pods I've seen on the photos posted here??? The three towers near me VG60XC339 and VG54XC220 are about 30 feet high cylinders with no side attachments at all..but I am getting pretty decent WiMax at the house so there must be some 4G electronics in these missiles

Only thing I can think of is a phantom signal that wasn't real. Some early devices had phantom signals pop up out of nowhere here and there. There is a GMO (Ground Mount Option) site near you that they could be testing LTE on, so let us know if you do get full time LTE. However, please don't post Site ID's in the general forums. They are Sponsor content.

Since Ceasars properties are starting the resort fee BS that MGM properties have, its a toss up. I usually stay slightly off the strip at the Rio. Its decently priced. On strip either NY NY or Planet Hollywood. For really cheap nights on strip, the Quad (formerly Imperial Palace).

I find it odd that they would have to do permits to do indoor work. Did T-Mobile have to do that? I see T-Mobile 1900 MHz HSDPA everywhere inside the major casinos.

However LTE on AT&T / Verizon on the casino floors is pretty scarce. If Sprint does put LTE on the DAS systems, it'll be fun to have bragging rights amongst my friends about having it.

Building permits are required for upgrades to the equipment cabinets, panel replacements for the DAS antennas so they can support 800CDMA if they deploy indoors.

As for T-mobile, I think they had dual band DAS antennas and just needed carrier cards to put HSDPA on 1900, but they will need permits for LTE if their existing equipment is not compatible.

Sorry...didn't know that rule

Not sure if Clear WiMax towers are a part of the Sprint Network Vision/LTE upgrade, but I live in NLV (Sprint/Virgin Evo V WiMax phone) and there has been work going on on the tower (Decatur & Deer Springs) across the street from me all week. Anyone else seeing lots of activity going on around their local tower? Would love to see Sprint/Clear LTE go live sooner rather than later here in Vegas.

Clear is not part of the Sprint Network Vision program. However, if you can please take pictures of your local tower and post them so we can see if they are working on the Sprint rung on the panel. Close-ups of the bottom of the panels would be best.

Welcome to S4GRU!

Edit: On a side note, the tower you speak of just had it's permit pulled on 1/19/2013. If they are working on it, this is the fastest start of upgrade out of all the Vegas towers so far.

Work in Vegas is progressing along nicely. If you have a local tower you suspect is Sprint work, please post pics, and the cross streets you are by.

This is a picture of what you are looking for.

So I hope Vegas get LTE soon, but as for now 3G just keeps getting better and better. I live off fort apache and horse (far as you can get from the strip) and I'm getting 2mb upload and download speed. I test it at least once a day. Back in February it was so slow in this area like .05 So something has to be going right. Plus I have a feeling within the next couple weeks there going to say that we can start using 4g LTE. Wouldn't be surprised if the whole Nevada area gets flipped on and that's why it's taking so long. But it's worth the wait because when I was in LA I got LTE and it was FASTER then Verizon and AT&T combined. Can't wait for 4g LTE.

Network Vision upgrades in the Las Vegas markets has been ongoing for several months already. Many sites have been accepted for 3g already and is why you see better 3g speeds now (upgraded backhaul). Alcatel-Lucent tends to bring 3g online first and then 4g several weeks later. At this rate, expect the first 4g blips to show in the next 30-45 days.

So 4G LTE should be expected pretty much by the end of this month?

I'm going to say, given Alcatel Lucent's current track record with their other markets in the southwest, that at least one tower could be LTE enabled by the end of this month and full steam ahead by the middle of May.

Wow...we'll see...all I've noticed around here (Anthem) is that 3G keeps getting stronger & stronger at the house; saw -63 rssi this am best ever in the 10 years we have lived here; I'd be ecstatic if we had a few LTE sensorly splashes here by late summer; no progress at all on the towers around me that I have been watching

Henderson is behind because they are so strict when it comes to cell tower work that it can take 3-4 months to secure a permit per tower.

Clark County & Las Vegas have been really easy on permits, approving them within 2-4 weeks of application. Henderson may be the last community with complete LTE coverage.

Anyone on the Northwest side of town near Racel St east of Durango? The tower is visible on Al Carrison St. The permit was issued and then approved 2 days later on March 28. Pictures, please!

Thanks in advance!

I've seen a couple lifts working on towers this week (South side of town). Specifically two along I-215 and one along Windmill. Most of the work seems to be on the lower rung of the antenna array.

Forum upload kept failing so I used imageshack:

On windmill between fairfield and placid.

The other two that had similar activity are on 215/eastern & 215/pecos

215 and Pecos was 3G completed recently, and I'll check on the other 2 later today.
