Network Vision/LTE - Las Vegas Market

With so much B41 in Vegas now, it will be quite limiting to be on B25 only.

Tell me about it, would be nice to experience B41 in vegas again, I was there in December with the Moto X 2014 and  B41 was awesome.

I got into Las Vegas around 1030pm.   I got some LTE at the airport but it keep switching constantly between b41 to b25.  it also kept happening on hwy 215 to the Vdara.   Inside the Vdara there was no LTE, only 3G.  On my way to the Aria, outside i got b25 and b41 but inside it was only 3G.  Lost at the blackjack table.  Went to the Cosmopolitan, there was LTE b25 inside depending on what side of the hotel u was at. Left the Cosmopolitan and won my money back plus extra.

When i went back to the hotel to rest. i couldn't believe that i got 1x800 voice on my girl galaxy s4 mini.

It's not terribly surprising to get switched to 1x800 inside of a casino/hotel. It's widely deployed here in Vegas. Though I almost always have a good PCS CDMA signal, I still get switched over to 1x800 periodically at work inside of an all metal building. What can push Sprint's network over the top here is the ok to start turning up Band 26 LTE.

Well heres my report after being on the strip all weekend. Must say great improvement overall in the city. LTE was excellent. Web was accessible in  casino floors with good speeds that I was able to update my feeds and look at instagram. Monte Carlo had LTE inside the casino floor as well as MGM and SLS.

Stayed at Excalibur on the 7th floor and 4G was available, very slow but was able to load some pages. 3G inside the room was faster and more stable. I have the Moto X so was only able to test drive Band 25.

I was able to experience the upgrades on the network since Im a regular in Vegas, before NV pages would not load when connected to data so pretty much my phone was useless and the phone battery would drain.

Phone calls had a few issues when trying to call my brother on sprint, call would dial but nothing could be heard while the call was active. Took me a few times to go thru and reach him.

Pretty satisfied with the network. Keep it up Sprint.

We get a lot of those first call connection but no audio. These are on NV completed sites in San Diego. Wondering what is up with that and thought it was an isolated issue but seems like others are experiencing similar issues.

Pahrump is that way too. I was told it was a capacity issue, but now it seems to be a switch issue.

I'm having this issue on AT&T lately calling non AT&T subs. Driving me bonkers.

I can still nab a pass. :P

$25 for onsite registration. I should have registered last week. Had a coupon code that made the exhibits only pass free. :D

Just left Vegas Saturday and service has improved since Christmas time.  Stayed at the new SLS and got LTE, although it was on Band 25.  Still was able to surf with no real issues.  Even took a ride out to Southwest Henderson and still had LTE.

Stayed at New York New York, had B41. Speed averaged 10Mbps. Used up 3Gb hotspot data with no problems during my stay.

Was on B41 90% of the time I was in town. Much improved since last year.

B41 during taxi @ LAS. B25 in the underground at MGM. B41 in parts of the South & Central halls at the convention center. 3G at the Adobe booth. Overall a big improvement from last year!

Coverage was pretty bad this year during NAB especially in South Hall (Upper and lower level), because the Sprint DAS that was working just fine during CES was down most of the time. On Monday service was mostly 1x and LTE was not available as soon you stepped into the building,

On Tuesday I only saw a flash of 1x -- mostly B41.  I'll thank the sandstorm for scattering the signal my way.

I was really disappointed because the network performance was not good at all. Verizon was actually much better as during CES, T-Mobile was a hit and miss while AT&T worked at slow speeds. Clearwire's network worked without any issues (LV is not a conversion market).

During CES, Sprint's LTE B41 network was working so well but the same areas that enjoyed coverage before saw mostly 1x speeds or nothing. At times, 1x voice was the only available option.

So Vegas has actual 8T8R radios widely deployed? How is indoor coverage when compared to B25?

Coverage is good but it seems we need an additional upgrade soon in Las Vegas. I travel to Vegas every week for work and the network has been slow lately. Not sure why but we need some 2nd carrier love

Vegas has a ton of band 41, and works fine off the strip. At least it did when I was there in September. I'm sure it has improved drastically since then. Sprint just needs two things there: first, they desperately need the SBC b.s. to wrap up and get band 26 launched and tuned. Second, they need to prioritize every single tower and DAS on the strip. Tourism is huge there, and as a tourist, I don't care if I get 60mbps in Henderson, but can't escape 3G on the strip.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
