Network Vision/LTE - Las Vegas Market

Was in Vegas this past weekend and speeds were good for my type of use. Spent most of the time at the Venetian sportsbook and LTE does reach in there...though ping is somewhat high and speeds are marginal. I was able to load sites such as ESPN, rotoworld.com, and check twitter, my fantasy football app, FB and IG while watching football all day. Deeper inside the Venetian and Palazzo, it drops to 3G, but even then the 3G speeds were sufficient and signal was strong. It may have been even faster than LTE at times. I was with friends who have Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, and they were all on LTE throughout Venetian/Palazzo. Hopefully B26 solves this for Sprint (or maybe the other 3 carriers have a DAS and/or repeater in this hotel?), but like I said, 3G was more than good enough for me.

Also did a quick walkthru to the sportsbook in Ceasars and 3G speeds were also plenty sufficient. At South Point (off the strip), B41 reached into the sportsbook there and speeds were plenty fast.

Overall, LTE and 3G speeds were good enough for me to do the typical check of sports stats and social apps. Texting (both SMS and MMS group texting) and voice were very reliable. 3G speeds along the 15 between Vegas and LA were good too...and there's good LTE in Victorville, Barstow and Primm along the freeway (this has been around for awhile, but thought I'd point it out).

I will say that my last trip in October I spent most of my time at the Planet Hollywood sportsbook, and speeds there for Sprint are atrocious. 3G is slow if you can even connect to it, but you're pretty much on 1x there. Signal here has been horrible for as long as I can remember, and I've been to this sportsbook many times over the past few years. At least AT&T has LTE here which my friend is on.

Most of the hotels and casinos have DAS in place. Sprint has DAS in most buildings, although only about half of them have been swapped out to LTE equipment so far. However, DAS 3G is generally pretty good since there are so many different antennas inside of the building, it spreads out the usage.

Well here is my update to the coverage in Vegas....

Went to a show at the mirage, kitty corner to the flamingo where i was back in July, and when the signal SUCKED on strip...

Well that seems to have been fixed INSIDE, IN THE MIDDLE of the Mirage, and in the theater area, had 90s, signal and decent (8 down, in fact when it switched to 41, INSIDE, it dropped to like 5 lol)

But in building it was pretty awesome....

so while I havent walked all over on the strip.....at/in the mirage it was pretty dang good.....

oh out at the south pointe, its still kinda sketchy way inside, but on the 16th floor its ok....

This was at work in old Henderson. I'm guessing that it was some sort of anomaly.

It's that crazy Mojave server! :(

Does that server typically produce outlandish results?

Usually I only get crazy slow speeds from that server.

Not sure how many areas are effected but I can't connect to data in Las Vegas at all on B41. My LG G3 will not move off B41 but can't connect. B25 seems to work at times on a single band handset but speeds are super slow

Did you pull that speed inside or outside? I pulled 40 down in the target parking lot earlier today.

Sorry to quote such an old post, but I was just browsing the Vegas thread, and came across this. When I was in Vegas in September, inside the Mirage was the best service I had on the whole trip (I didn't really leave that area for 3 days--stayed in Ballys). They might have a DAS in there. LTE was fantastic, and I didn't want to leave because Ballys was 3G/1x/roaming the entire time.

I was on the strip in January, and the area next to the Bellagio fountain was just awful.  I had a near useless b25 signal.  Hopefully they'll add two b41 carriers over there.

However, over at the MGM and NY NY, I had b41, and the service was good.

Will be in Vegas next week, I will report back after my trip, I dont have a triband phone anymore so only B25 for me.

With so much B41 in Vegas now, it will be quite limiting to be on B25 only.
