was not doing it for no reason just posted it to show speeds have not improved & this is not something anyone likes rather have Spark now then still have to wait until the end of March 2015

Stop...posting...speed tests!

Oh OK.......so what am I not understanding from that thread. I've read so I'm confused.....which BTW is easy done :)

Before Android 4+, bars showed voice. Now, they show data signal. And with Tri-Band devices, it has to show data signal, as they do not maintain a connection to 1x. They can't maintain a connection to 1x while connected to LTE.

 

iPhones always showed the highest level technology with bars (dots).

I'd say in general. Remember, the Lower Central Valley is still having lots of work going on. Very much growing pains going on here. Once Band 41 and Band 26 LTE start showing up, things are bound to get better. Just wait and see. Yes, it might be next year before major improvements, but that's all part of the process.

If youre in a 1x only area I presume it would show bars relevant to just that, correct?

Yes, whatever the highest technology you are connected to will be what shows up in the signal bars.

Examine the date and the metadata.  That info is from 2012 -- well before the release of tri band, single RF path, e/CSFB handsets.  Circumstances have changed.

It is still useful to Uniband LTE device holders who are using older OS'es.

 

It even has this note listed:

 

NOTE: iPhones, LG Android devices and Triband LTE devices are not affected.  They do show LTE signal accurately.  Also, many Android 4.3 and later devices also show LTE signal strength accurately.  This thread will become obsolete soon as all Sprint devices in 2014 will be Triband and will display LTE signal strength correctly.

you can't expect me to read all the way to the bottom of the post where it says in large letters that it doesn't apply to tri-band phones, etc.  You're expecting too much from your audience  :lol:

I will move it to the top and update the verbiage a little more. Because it is starting to get obsolete.

Since yesterday, speeds have been decent between 2-4 mbps in Kingsburg and in Fresno downtown where I work, i'm getting 2-3 mbps now.  Did something happen?  Did we lose more users which increase available bandwidth  :P

Congrats, does seem to be getting consistently more better, LOL! Still on 3G where I work though, bad as ever (but we thankfully have awesome wifi). My work is at Ashlan and Fresno St. which is a pretty big area with no 4g and extra bad 3g. Seems like most of the center part of town along the 41 and Blackstone is pretty weak! Most other areas of town I frequent seem much better.

Lol ive been Patiently waiting since last yr. Got fooled when Sprint said by summer/fall/winter then was told this spring everyone would have it in the valley. Finally got a Verizon phone but im gonna switch back.

We all know it took longer than originally planned. Some jurisdictions just make it so much harder to get permits necessary to do the upgrades. I'm glad to see that work is progressing in farmersville now.

What is a big mystery for me, why Sprint neglected the central valley for so many years. MetroPCS and Cricket had better coverage and I honestly hope that Sprint will do something about the gaps on the I-5

I'm sure they eventually will. Let them finish with all of what they are doing and then let the infill happen.

      Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.

      Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.

      Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
